Beautiful Beats from Boston Boy,
This review is from: Homegrown (Audio CD)
I love this disc. Love, love LOVE!!! Its cover describes it perfectly: A festive, glittery disco ball unexpectedly popping out of a warm, crusty, delicious pie =). You won't find disco, but you'll definitely find the fun that it signifies... It has not exited my car CD player since receipt 2 weeks ago.
I first discovered this man last November, when I was blown away by his live set. Please buy this if you dig some fantastic, ear-pleasing, funky-bass, sweet-arse electro sounds... just let it play and be sure to hit repeat.

Bring the club home,

When I first heard this album, I was at Club Womb in Shibuya-Tokyo, Japan. I immediately had to have it. The only crappy thing was waiting for it to hit the market. When it did, I was on it like white on rice. This CD should be the definition of "Progressive." This is how progressive music should sound like. It's in your face loud, rich, and deep. You can pretty much close your eyes and picture yourself with your friends at the club where the lights are down really low and the lasers and strobe lights are going, the bass is bumping hard, and the dance floor is packed. I had a blast seeing and hearing Steve Porter bring this album to life and so should you. Don't miss out!

great album from top DJ,
This review is from: Homegrown (MP3 Download)
This is a great album from one of the world's top DJs. You may have seen the "Slap Chop" video on YouTube. Same guy, but a little more serious on this release. Still, the fun and excitement is there. I have a few albums from Steve Porter and they're all a blast. This is no exception.

Never heard of this guy, have no idea what the history is but I ran across this album while dumpster diving through Amazon's MP3 downloads and I agree it's fantastic. The samples on Amazon are way too short to get a feel for the album but they'll give you an idea of structure and tempo. Highly recommended - nice, bouncy mix with a mellow, consistent groove and seamless mixing throughout.

The first reviews of this CD are absolutely right on. I am SO GLAD I got this...it is just amazing. It is addictive...it's fun, it's creative, it's got the beat, it's got it all! I cannot stop playing Rage In the Cage. I've heard other songs that Steve has mixed which led me to this CD. If you want to whirl yourself into a great groove, get this CD! NOW!

I bought this CD directly from the FADE RECORDS website when this had first released. I'd heard a couple of Mr. Porter's Tracks, and remixs before, but was really trusting more in the label itself not to let me down. Let me just say "SWEET CHRIST GIVE ME MORE!!!" This album is so good from start to finish, quality progressive all the way through. This is not your average sleepy "prog" album, this one will take you on a journey. From start to finish, beautifully mixed by Porter himself. Every track on the album is for the dance floor, no 3 dance tracks then a chill out, then 3 more dance tracks and so on, and so on. I'd pick out my favorite tracks for you, but they're all so good, it would be to hard to only pick a couple out of the bunch. This is an absolute masterpiece, there are only a couple other dance artist albums out there that can say that. Buy this album, you will not be disapointed.
