You'll laugh! You'll cry! But mostly you'll laugh.,

This review is from: Homeland (Audio CD)
Half of his second solo release (with its "domestic partner", Security), Roy Zimmerman continues his bitingly satirical ways with "Homeland". You'll learn how the 2000 presidential election is like "My TV", and why it's difficult to get the "Patriot Act" off of your shoe. The Governator of California is "Pumping Irony", and Roy imagines what would happen if "Jerry Falwell's God" showed up at his party.
Then there are the love songs. You'll hear one brilliantly-performed end of the dialog as Zimmerman asks his wife, "Would You Let Me" finish a sentence. "Love Your Neighborhood Priest" sees Zimmerman asking how he can sign up for Cardinal Mahony's lay council on sexual misconduct. He then throws a curveball with "You", a straight love ballad. All 12 songs showcase Roy's impressive guitar skills, rapier wit, and underrated singing voice. I heartily recommend all of Roy's work for anyone who likes to laugh and think. |
