This book is more in the nature of a novelized version of a comic book, which is not necessarily a criticism since that seems to be what the author was going for. It is also only part one of what seems to be a two part novel.

The main character of Homeless is Randy Hudson, a successful construction-business owner with a nice family, who seems like a generally nice guy. Unfortunately, his oldest daughter, Rose, is dating Mark, a nice-looking cad who is a secret gang-banger. When things go poorly between Rose and Mark, Randy rescues Rose and humiliates Mark. Mark's gang-banger cousin decides that Mark needs to restore his honor and orders the execution of Randy's family. Mark and the gang, kill the family, injure Randy and burn down Randy's house. Randy is saved by George, the dorky friend infatuated with - but overlooked by - Rose, but decides to drop out of society and become a homeless bum. Another run-in with the gang gives Randy the idea of killing every last gang-banger he can lay his extremely competent, death-ninja hands on. Randy starts killing gang-bangers. George plays techno-Robin but is very unhappy with the murdering that Randy insists on engaging in. Will Randy get caught by the corrupt police or the filthy, white-slaving gang? Will the gang trace Randy back to George's and capture him for a final climactic scene of near death and near rescue?

The book is obviously formulaic. Randy's revenge on the gang members is sadistic to the point of being psychopathic. The transition of Randy from "nice family guy" to conscienceless sadistic killer is a tad problematic. If you have problems with your protagonist slicing body parts off of characters howevermuch they richly deserve such treatment, then you should probably make this one a "no go.

I picked this up for my Kindle. Very solid story and a cool twist that sets this apart from allot of cookie cutter literature. I also look forward to the sequel and would recommend this book...sequel?

I really enjoyed Homeless! The author did a great job keeping my attention and making me want to keep reading. It was a book that freaked me out, made me cry, made me laugh, and left me in suspense. I look forward to the sequel and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good action-thriller!
