5.0 out of 5 stars great tasting food in half the time
The recipes are easy to make, but taste like you spent a long time making them. I don't always use the "time saving methods" (buying chopped vegetables or prepared garlic, etc), but it helps when you're in a hurry. I also like the fact that the recipes use a variety of ingredients and are from different regions/nationalities. A good, all-around cookbook for those of us...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Difficult to Use
I found that this cookbook is great in theory but many of the ingredients were just plain wierd or things you would not usually have on hand. 3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Difficult to Use, June 17, 2009

I found that this cookbook is great in theory but many of the ingredients were just plain wierd or things you would not usually have on hand. I grocerey shop for my family and some of the prepared ingredients I have never seen on a regular grocery store shelf. For example "can of diced tomatoes with burgundy wine and olive oil" and also the heavy use of prepared items would not make the recipes in this book very budget friendly. I think that the few minutes saved using these recipes would not be worth the high cost of preparing the dish itself. There are other books that do a better job of mixing fast with cost effective and if you decided to prepare the ingredients yourself to save money then the book loses its appeal all together. On the otherhand there are some interesting recipes that I haven't tried yet but do look pretty good, especially the breakfast items.

It's fine if one has all the canned soups and cake mixes on hand. Otherwise it's another novelty cookbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Fast Fixes with Mixes" is my new go-to cookbook. Just awesome!, September 25, 2008

I purchased "Fast Fixes with Mixes" cookbook because I was familiar with the quality of Taste of Home recipes and books. This book is no exception. It has become my go-to book for meal planning. The recipes are awesome, tasty, easy to prepare and quick. There are beautiful photos of the majority of the prepared recipes, and each person who contributed a recipe for the book has written a little summary of it's origins and other tidbits of interesting information. It is by no means a from-scratch recipe book; it is a book for the everyday cook and busy housewife, husband etc. It would be a terrific starter cookbook for the inexperienced cook as well. I highly recommend this gem of a cookbook. I am purchasing additional copies for my daughters and will get some for Christmas gifts as well. In my opinion, if you give this cookbook a try, it will become on of your favorites as well.
