Is used externally by instilling into the eye one drop four or five times a day. This must be kept up for several months. Compare in cataract Phos. and Platanus. CINNABARIS. (Mercuric Sulphide.) For certain forms of ciliary neuralgia and ulcera- tion upon a syphilitic base, this remedy is most effective. Eyes. -- Pain from lachrymal duct around eye to temple, from inner canthus- across brows to ear. Severe shooting pain in bones of orbit, especially running from inner to outer canthus in the bone. Redness of whole eye. Nose. -- Pressive sensation, as from heavy spectacles. Pain about root, extending into bones on each side. [Aur.; Kal. hyd.] Extremities. -- Pain in forearm from elbow down including hands. Throat. -- Stringy mucus passed through posterior nares into throat. Dryness of mouth and throat; must rinse the mouth. Fiery-looking ulcers in mouth and throat. Male. -- Prepuce swollen; warts on it which bleed easily. Testicles enlarged; buboes. Boericke's Pocket Manual is the classic, usually well worn, reference book, found in the library of most naturopathic and homeopathic physicians. If I could only have one book about homeopathy, this would be it. William Boericke was an MD/Botanist, and his works form the basis of most modern materia medicas. This volume includes homeopathic uses of hundreds of plants and natural substances, many of which are not found elsewhere. Latin and common names are cross referenced, a list of remedy duration of action, and a limited repertory is provided. While the Indian re-printed edition is a poorly bound version from the 1927 manuscript, my copy is still holding up after 10 years. It is an excellent, affordable reference source. The newer versions can be more costly, but are no more valuable to me than my old copy, which I still carry, with my own practice notes in the margins.

I wanted a reference book with more information about all the homeopathic remedies (at least as many as I could get in one book). There is another book I would prefer to get, but didn't want to invest that much money in the beginning. So I got this book instead. It is perfect for me, since I am just starting to learn about homeopathy. If I get into homeopathy more I would buy the other book or invest in a computer program.
