Book Description

October 1, 1999

Women who seek alternatives to orthodox medical treatments will welcome this data-intensive new reference book. Beautifully illustrated with color photographs, drawings, charts and sidebars, Homeopathy for Women provides detailed information on the most common ailments and their homeopathic remedies for treatment at home. The book clearly matches symptoms to remedies in the following chapters:

  • The Breasts, Reproductive & Urinary Systems
  • Pregnancy, Birth & Post-Partum Problems
  • The Menopause
  • Head & Throat
  • The Chest, Heart & Circulation
  • Digestive System
  • The Skin, Joint & Muscles
  • Metabolic Problems
  • Emotional Problems
  • Emergencies

The final chapter is titled Common Homeopathic Medicines, listing the 50 most common medicines used in homeopathic treatments.

Anatomical illustrations and panels, tables and sidebars of important data enhance the valuable information provided throughout the book, especially on improving well being and tailoring treatments to individual symptoms and constitutional profiles. There is a special section that lists addresses and telephone numbers for homeopathic organizations and homeopathic pharmacies/manufacturers. A glossary and bibliography make this book a complete reference.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

This beautifully produced British import neither is as format driven as similar health books nor does it contain odd or confusing Briticisms. The authors are medical doctors and trained practitioners of homeopathy. Their surprisingly concise, two-page introductory section defines homeopathy and gives its history, its proposed mechanism of action, preparation of remedies, how to use the book, and how to take the remedies. Part 1 consists of 10 thematic chapters on the full range of women's health concerns (e.g., digestive system, pregnancy, and postpartum), with entries in each for up to 20 conditions or ailments. Introductory material for each chapter (and often for each ailment) is filled with suggestions for dietary or lifestyle changes, herbal remedies, cross-references, and cautions. Each entry includes a chart that guides the reader to individual remedy choices. Part 2 is a materia medica of 50 of the most common homeopathic single remedies, giving symptoms rather than diagnoses as indications. Photographs, anatomical illustrations, and screened charts, most in full color, and sidebars supplement the text. An exemplary reference to the topic. This review is from: Homeopathy for Women: A Comprehensive, Easy-to-Use Guide for Women of All Ages (Paperback)
I really liked the visual presentation of this book - there are lots of charts that explain remedies and it is easy to figure out which remedy to choose. The ailments are a bit limited and descriptions are a bit short, but overall it is useful in helping one to choose a direction for healing.
