It turned to be very useful for us - first time homeowners. Our house was a foreclosure, so there were tons of things to fix about it. This book has information on basic repairs such as repairing a light fixture, fixing pipes, replacing toilets, installing faucets, painting tips, new floor installation, gutters, etc. etc. The photos are detailed, description is simple. We definitely recommend it.

If you are a new home-owner or somebody who is not confident in basic repairs, this book is perfect! Each section includes step by step instructions with color photos. At the beginning of each repair is a labeled color photo of all the tools and supplies you'll need to do the job.

What I love most about this book is that it covers not only simple repairs like replacing an outlet, but even covers how to fix squeaky floors or to tune up a garage door. I've never had much experience doing my own repairs, but this book has greatly built my confidence and has me always looking forward to the next project.

Of the basics books I've seen, this one may cover fewer projects, but it covers them with background info/detail many others don't.

I bought this book as a gift to my husband when we moved into our first house. It has been such a useful tool being first time homeowners as well as neither of us being particularly handy. I would really recommend it to any first time homeowner as well as to anyone that is not that handy and needs some great photos and easy to follow instructions.

The book was purchased as a "housewarming" gift for my daughter and her husband. She informed me that it was very easy to read and understand and they carried the book with them when they were shopping for painting supplies at Home Depot.

The book also explains the basic equipment in a home and included various photos of different types of furnaces, hot water heaters, etc.

She was very happy to have the book for guidance for a new homeowner and reference material when starting on her next renovation project.
