I cannot say enough good about this DVD. It is an amazing resource for gaining insight and saving money in real estate. It is a virtual checklist for potential trouble areas when evaluating residential property. Purchasing real estate is daunting enough. Even with a home inspector, there are so many potential problems you almost don't know where to start. He looks over property for a couple hours,,, but I am going to live there for years. That is why I got this DVD. It misses nothing and its format is super for revisiting areas I wanted to review at a later date. So much better than a video because you don't waste time fast-forward/rewinding to find the exact parts you want to look at again.
Watching this reminds me of the adage " people do not see, when they do not have a language to describe". I have a much more critical eye now, and am much more fluent in the language of identifying problems I may be stuck with for a long time. I look at this video each time my wife and I go out looking for new places to live. I can't wait for the subsequent "how to fix..." volumes.

"Homeowner Series Vol. 1, Identifying Problems throughout your home" was a VERY helpful tool. It clearly explains all aspects of inspecting your home. Compared to the other (2) home inspection dvds that I've purchased recently here, this one was by far the best. Not a cheesy production, very professionally done.

I have owned this DVD for about a month now, and I can say that it is absolutely awesome. This DVD is so easy to use and has an enormous about of information in it. It allows you to research more topics then I had ever thought about. Another great feature is that you don't have to watch the entire movie. You can just put the DVD in and quickly find the topic you are looking for then your done. The cinematography is outstanding.

Additionally, this DVD would have been an unbelievable resource to have when I was buying my first house. It's an absolute must for any new homeowners or homebuyers. The animated diagrams are also pretty interesting. You get to see how a lot of thing function in the house. Overall I give this DVD 5 stars.

I needed some information because I am looking to buy a home for my family and I bought Identifying Problems. Identifying Problems is new with current information and is very clear, easy to understand. You can see in detail exactly what is being identified as the detailed information about all aspects of the home are discussed. There are no "stars of the show" only the examination of a lot of homes like the ones I have been looking at. I have found the exact same types of problems as discussed in the DVD and I think it is very worth while. When I make an offer on a home and I will hire a home inspector, and I will be able to understand what he is pointing out as well as ask questions about what I have learned in this DVD. This is a well layed out, easy to follow DVD that allowes you to surf through it and to find what you are looking for without having to listen to entire sections to find a specific item. For the price this is a great deal, not a waste of your time.

I watched the video three times. I thought it was very informational. I even took notes! I am very pleased with the DVD and recommend it.

The DVD takes a pragmatic and well organized approach to identify and demystify common household problems. The presentation is fresh and current. It shares a knowledge base that obviously is based on extensive practical experience. For the average homeowner and/or house-buyer this DVD can help identify and show the way to practical and economic fixes. The amount of topics is impressive.

I have been inspecting homes and building houses for over 25 years and I have trained many people in the business. As an expert I can tell you that this dvd is a total waste of your time and your money! There's nothing on this dvd that will give you new information that you don't already know - unless you have never walked into a house before. Worse than that, this dvd actually gives you some misleading information which would create more problems for you.

I had bought this dvd just to see if it could help beginner's or first home buyer's learn the basics. This dvd is not even useful for something as basic as that. If you want to learn about real estate or repairs then buy well-known books on the topic written by authors who are experts in their field. Don't waste your time with books/dvds written by ghost writers that copies sections of other people's work and pastes them together to create a "book" or "dvd".

If you're not sure which books are the best then go to your public library and browse them to decide which books you want to buy on Amazon.com. Amazon is a great place to buy books/dvds when there are honest product reviews. Unlike the exaggerated 5 star reviews written about this dvd. After viewing this dvd it's obvious that the only reviewer's comment that I should have believed before my purchase was the one that wrote:
"It's a headache to buy online with only perfect customer comments to base your decision on and then later being disappointed with your purchase.You have to be weary about products sold online with customer comments that are all positive and no negative."
With hindsight I agree with that statement completely!

Look at the obvious exaggerations and comments from the glowing positive "reviews" - you would think they watched this dvd and found the cure for cancer!
"Absolutely Outstanding!!, absolutely awesome, enormous about of information in it, Amazing, I can't wait till they come out with more"...

Do yourself a favor and search through Amazon.com for well-known and established authors and get a good book on your topic of interest. Always be very wary if you find all glowing, exaggerated, positive reviews.

I couldn't believe the amount of damage I found in my home after watching this DVD! Amazing. I live in Kentucky and I guess the houses out here are a little "under the weather" you could say.

I'm a house wife and recently got interested in learning more about my home and how to fix things around the house. I am SO glad that I got this DVD. It's so easy to watch and real professional. I couldn't believe it was only 20 dollars! I also bought the toilet repair DVD. That's great too. I can't wait till they come out with more.

I would definetly buy this DVD if you want to know how to find what's wrong with your home. Real Quality. Super fast shipping too. Altogether excellent!

You don't get an accurate picture and that seems to be the case with this dvd.
Don't think that by watching this dvd that you will go out there and start repairing and inspecting your house.You need alot more information and you will need to learn alot more about house building parts and do some proper construction training. However the dvd is interesting and you will get a few ideas on what you should do. The dvd explains some different parts of houses but does no get too deep.Overall it has some benefit but not like the other customer comments say.
