It is a Rip Off if You Want True History, December 13, 2007
This review is from: The Homer Name in History (Paperback)
The book uses common text that is used for all surnames. It's specific coverage of a family name, such as Homer, is mainly done by adding some statistical data to the sidebars of the pages. If you really want to find out about your family name in history, this book won't do much for you. There were no biographies of anyone named Homer, such as Winslow Homer. I'd expect that about a book with this title. Additionally, the book doesn't go that far back in history (1800's). So if you want to know more about the Homers that settled Plymouth colony in Yarmouth, MA then again this isn't the book for you. Lastly, I know they get their data from censuses and other government documents, but I'm a bit skeptical of some of the data that was published. This book was a rip off.
