5.0 out of 5 stars homeschooling mom of 5, August 19, 2004
This review is from: Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit (Paperback)
This is an incredible book! I love the Maxwells! This book is just one of their many encouraging books. Teri is the mother of 8 children and has homeschooled 3 into adulthood so far. She has struggled with everything from anger to depression and shares the way she overcame both. She doesn't mince words or candy coat things. I felt this book got me back on track and I look forward to rereading it this year too. I have shared it with 3 of my homeschooling friends who have been helped by her wisdom as well. I highly recommend this if you choose to be a woman who is strong yet has a meek and quiet spirit. From the looks of it you can't get this book right now through Amazon but you can get it through the Maxwells own site www.titus2.com There you can purchase their other great books too...Keeping Our Children's Hearts and Manager's of Their Homes and more! (including great read aloud books) I hope you will take the time to bless your family by becoming a woman with a meek and quiet spirit!

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for every Christian HS Mom!, March 20, 2007
This review is from: Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit (Paperback)
This is one of the best books I've read for homeschooling moms. Teri is such a 'real' person, and a wonderful, down to earth writer. I read this book every single year and any time between when I need a 'spirit tune up' for my homeschooling. Worth every penny and then some!

This book really dives into the heart of the average homeschooling mom cutting right to the issues that we all face. What makes it so unique is that Teri gives you a plan for getting and keeping that meek and quiet spirit, or at least coming close! Even Teri will tell you that she is, and always will be a 'work in progress'. This book will speak to your heart. You will laugh, nod your head, and cry as you read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, excellent book!, June 11, 2006

I too, love the Maxwells! Teri's warmth and "realness" shine in this offering. She clearly identifies what robs us of our meek & quiet spirit - disorganization, anger & fear. She goes on to share how the Lord is teaching (note the lack of the past tense - she's still journeying with us!!!) her to faithfully deal His way with these issues.

Great, great great!!!!

Wow! What an encouraging book! Teri Maxwell is very honest and open about mistakes she made in the past and how the Lord gently corrected her and taught her a better way. It is a somewhat fast read and has several practical ideas on how to de-stress some main problem areas for homeschooling mothers. I appreciate her experience- 8 children and lots of history. It was always encouraging and I didn't find myself feeling condemned, as I sometimes do with parenting books! I highly recommend this book if you are a homeschooling mom-- current or prospective!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, some practical help!, August 14, 2009
This review is from: Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit (Paperback)
I recommend this to anyone who has children and loves the Lord Jesus.

So far our favorite chapter is the one on anger. We've had so many things causing us great frustration and she goes thoroughly through each cause, giving practical tips. We've begun implementing them and notice a difference already.

Also appreciated (and most important) is the reminder of the importance of feeding on the Word each and every day and getting His nourishment for my great job of training up my children.

This book zoned in on a very important fact: before homeschooling, pray in earnest. Homeschooling can be tough, so going into it with the proper frame of mind, knowledge and realistic expectation will help tremendously. I highly recommend this book to any Christian parent who is seriously considering the homeschool route. The author has been on the same route for quite some time and generously passes her experience on to others. A very good, informative read.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit (Paperback)
This book should be called Mothering with a Meek and Quiet Spirit. If you don't homeschool, this book still applies. I don't typically read books twice but this one is a must to continue to refer to. Thanks to the writer :-)
