5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book!!!, May 22, 2008
This review is from: The Homeschooling Option: How to Decide When It's Right for Your Family (Paperback)
This book was so helpful in laying out the why tos and why not tos. I had been sitting on the homeschool decision for months. Now that we are fast approaching fall and kindergarten, I am so happy to have found this book! It navigated me through many of the questions I had and really helped me make my homeschooling decision. Although a homeschooler herself, Rivero is fairly objective and tells it like it is. She also references many books and websites that are helpful. I recommend this book to anyone who is making the homeschooling decision as well as anyone who wants a better idea of why someone would choose to homeschool.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the best book for general homeschooling information., May 13, 2010

I've done lots of research on homeschooling, reading probably 30 books on the topic. When I got toward the end of my research, I found this offering by Rivero. As there are many books on the topic, one finds that information begins to repeat- I found that Rivero catches most of the highlights and information contained in other homeschooling books. She succently and comfortably reviews why one might choose to homeschool and why one might decide not to. Hers was the most balanced look at homeschooling as well, neither acting as a complete cheerleader, nor being a detractor. When people ask me what book they should read about homeschooling, I always send them to Rivero's book first.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful resource!, February 17, 2009
This review is from: The Homeschooling Option: How to Decide When It's Right for Your Family (Paperback)
I am considering homeschooling my child(ren), after 2 years in public school, and I chose this homeschooling book first, simply because it was the first one available through my local library.

I found this to be a fantastic resource for many of the questions I have about making homeschooling work successfully for my family. The author also discussed advantages that I hadn't even considered, such as being able to be with your children more often, and becoming a more cohesive family.

This is a great book with a lot of ideas and resources, and, as another reviewer mentioned, a good choice to pass along to other family members.
