5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent R&B
I bought this CD as a fluke -- I saw it in the bin, scanned it ... for a quick cursory listen and was immediately struck by its vitality. Took it home where it quickly became one of my favorites. This CD has many virtues: 1. The trio do sound like they have been playing from grade school; they sound good -- very, very good. 2. There is an excellent range of R&B here:...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad.
Good blues but a little disappointing on the sonics. I bought if for Tab Benoit's cover of Willie Nelson's Nighlife. Decent live version of this song.

2. There is an excellent range of R&B here: rocking, driving ballads, to rhythmically slow, soulful tunes. 3. This just R&B at its best: The bass lines are wonderful, driving, and musical. If you are familiar with some of the more intricate bass lines from the Blues Brothers>Ray Charles> Shake Your Tail Feather> Donald Dunn, you get the idea. Most excellent bass work here. However, the one thing (4) that makes this CD stand head and shoulders above many others is the sound engineering. I am no audiophile, but this CD is about the best mastered R&B CD I have heard. In fact, I have been using this CD (and couple of DVDs) to help me select a new AV receiver. Frankly, in all 4 show rooms I have visited to audition B&K, Marantze, Arcam etc., the startled, impressed reaction by each sales person when hearing this CD tells me my sense of the quality of sound engineering is right. My other DVDs / Cds gained no such unsolicited praise. Someone clearly put serious effort into the sound on this CD If you have a good system, this critter will rock you. If not, it is still excellent. Excellent music, masterfully engineered; what more could one want?

3 great artists, one great CD. I bought this because I think Tab Benoit is one of the best, but the combination of Tab, Debbie Davies and Kenny Neal is to be recommended. I note that it was made 10 years ago - what is the chance of another one?

I bought this album after hearing one track, "Deal with It", on Pandora. The rest of the album is just as great. If you are not familiar with these artists, this CD is a great way to sample their work and style. Debbie Davies' voice and singing style remind me of Bonnie Raitt. If you are a fan of any of these artists, check out how well they complement one another. If you like rocking blues guitar, you'll like this album.

This is a great disc by three established bluespersons who sound like they've been playing together since grade school. Good variety of songs, great playing, and soulfull blues singing. A real delight from cut one on.

2.0 out of 5 stars THIS CD SHOULD HIT THE ROAD!, June 29, 2007

I got this one to complete my Debbie Davies collection. This album sounds like it was hastily thrown together to make a quick buck on three well known artists. The audio is ok, but the bass is over mixed and thumpy. The guitars are under mixed and have a boring dead sound. Good songs are: NIGHT LIFE, LUBERTA, I CAN'T AFFORD MYSELF, I PUT A SPELL ON YOU, and HOMESICK FOR THE ROAD.
