Stories to remember about the courage of Kansas pioneers, November 1, 2011
This review is from: Homespun Courage (Paperback)
In what might be described as "fiction based on actual circumstances," these early settlers demonstrated the courage that won them a place in the settlement of Kansas. These are the stories that many of us remember, of growing up with grandparents in the same home or in the immediate community...even though the names and the exact circumstance vary, those stories happened to real people, in real situations throughout early day Kansas.
Homespun Courage defines people who, when faced with prairie fires, blizzards, drought, floods, family tragedies, death and terror, were often examples of unexpected strength, courage and discipline. Putting difficulties behind them, they celebrated Christmases, birthdays and weddings in the new land, just like in the "old country" that few would ever see again.
A great visit to our ancestral not-so-long-ago past.
