4.0 out of 5 stars NOT BAD
Had this for a week and it works pretty well. It starts up quickly (<1 minute which if you read the info on others is good since it can take up to 5 minutes). I hang dry my shirts on hangers so this makes ironing seamless. I agree that you still need an iron if you want perfect creases but for everyday its great. An added bonus I found was that I could use it to...

I got my robi in the mail yesterday and decided to try it out on 3 pairs of dress shirts and slacks. It took me 30 minutes to get 1 of my shirts to the level of acceptable (but not iron quality). I understand that it will never be iron quality, but this product is a hazard.

*The stand is clumsy and un-balanced
*The steamer does not work on creased wrinkles
*The hose has to be completely uncoiled for the steam to come out
*The unit leaks if you open the water release valve for full steam
*The unit might-as-well not even have wheels on it, cause they don't help - I ended up just using the shoulder strap.

This product is a piece of you know what. I wouldn't have it any where near children or pets. I am sending it back today, but I do get to keep the travel steamer, which is good to have regardless of how fast it works. I hope Dyson finds a reason to engineer one of these.

Casey

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this item, January 15, 2008

this product is cheap plastic. it falls over and is a safety hazard as you could get burned-do not waste your money as it takes as much time as an iron to get the wrinkles out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Brand new and no steam at all, January 17, 2008
I was thrilled when I bought the Tobi. However, after I bought it and turned it on for serveral times, it didn't work. The tank and lower part of the hose got very hot. However, there was no steam and it smelled the first time I turned it on. I think it is a defective one.

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT impressed! The IRON stills wins this contest!!, May 26, 2008

I think the real reason why no one has invented something that works better than the IRON is that there IS nothing that works better! I bought the Tobi after watching the info-mercial several times. Like everyone else who bought one with dreams of making the wrinkles disappear with a wave of a wand...it must be the magic of TV because the product does not work the way they show that it does! I bought it to use on my new wardrobe which is going to require a lot of ironing.

The first time I used it was on some very thin sheers hanging in my den. Guess what - they are still wrinkled! SOME of the wrinkles came out, but the would look perfect if I had used my REAL iron. The steamer was HOT (the whole tubing part and the part that steams) the water leaked out on my carpet in puddles while I was using it. It tipped over twice the shoulder strap doesn't adjust very easily - I never was able to actually put it on my shoulder. The only bonus to this product was that it heated up very quickly - less then 1 minute and you don't have to take items off hangers or rods to steam them. But given the less than perfect results, you are better off to save your money and keep using the regular iron - they have evolved from your grandmothers iron - they are NOT that time consuming if you think about it - and they certainly are not this expensive, messy, or dangerous (burn risk) as the Tobi. My recommendation is to stick with what works - and if you're smart (like I wish I had been) you'll read the reviews BEFORE you order it and save yourself the hassle. It wasn't worth the shipping!!!!

I hang dry my shirts on hangers so this makes ironing seamless. I agree that you still need an iron if you want perfect creases but for everyday its great. An added bonus I found was that I could use it to stretch my thin merino wool sweaters that shrank after they were hand washed; it even thinned them back into shape. Pretty good.

1.0 out of 5 stars If it sounds to good to be true....it is, April 12, 2008
Tired of the scorched, burned clothes? Trade it in for scorched/scalded hands and fingers. No matter how careful, trust me, you're going to get burned {in more ways than the steam}. For this pricey little steamer, you should get much more. It takes as long to operate this steamer as it does to iorn the clothes. Pros: 1. it will do in a bind 2. money back guarantee (I hope cause I'm sending this thing back) 3. The steamer is easier on the neck and shoulders for those of us who suffer such problems.
Cons: 1. Overpriced by about $80.00 2. Doesn't work half as good as advertised. 3. Is dangerous.....I didn't see anyone using gloves while operating the Tobi but I had to put some on to finish the 8 garments I tried it on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst purchase of my life, February 24, 2008
This is the worst product that I ever bought.
It is very difficult to iron your clothes and requires extensive bending. Also, you can only do one side perfectly because if you are right handed then left side you hold it nicely and other you can't. Also, it does not cut wrinkles that easily as you expect from informercials. I hope i had read reviews before buying products.

I paid for around $60 just for shipping and handling and even returning the product is a loss.

1.0 out of 5 stars sincerely regret my purchase, May 27, 2008

I regret sincerely that I purchased the TOBI steamer. It worked fine when I tried it out the first time on a few pieces of clothing. When I went to actually use it, forget it. Just iron, it's better, and quicker. If you want to do cotton, iron. It does not even look as if you touched it. The only thing that I can truthfully say positive about the TOBI, is that it helped in a pinch for freshening up a tuxedo. I took too long to decide to send it back, because I thought that I was using it incorrectly and kept trying. But I had to face the facts. The steam is hardly present when you actually use it and then it stops even with a full reservoir. The best production of steam is when it is hanging up on the holder, it's the most consistent at that point. If you've already purchased, good luck. If you are considering, look elsewhere.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not An Iron, March 10, 2008

I have had this steamer for just over a month and it works as expected. I did extensive research and found that all steamers do not perform as well as a regular steam iron. Most materials turn out decent although one shirt I have worked on didn't look any better after than before.

Over all I would recommend a Tobi ... just remember "Not A Steam Iron"
