This book summarized my two semesters of pulpit speech into one book. It is very well written and backed up by Scripture. Dr. Goetsch did a wonderful job. I have had the privilege to hear him preach on several occasions and can testify that he practices what he says in the book.

I found Dr. John Goetsch's book to be very practical. This is definitely a book every pastor/preacher should have and reference often. It is well written and as the title indicates goes beyond the "nuts and bolts" to the heart of what proclaiming the Gospel and Bible truths is really all about. The Appendix on "How to Memorize Scripture" is worth the price of the book.

I have been preaching for 9 years, and Pastoring for 4 1/2 years at Independent Baptist Churches. There are many good books out there to help a preacher, with Bible knowledge, and practical matters. I have been able to implement the practices in this book while preaching since I've finished reading it, and have seen marked results. There have been folks at the altar every service, in my estimation there is little more that you can ask for then to see Gods hand move on peoples lives. It will be well worth reading for you, if you have taken the time to read this review and search for this book, just go ahead and spend the 10 or 15 dollars, I wish I would have when I saw the book in 2003!!!
