5.0 out of 5 stars Homosexuality in the Horoscope, July 2, 2000

This review is from: Homosexuality in the Horoscope (Paperback)
One of THE best works ever written, Heimsoth's is an indispensaseparatioble classic. Easy to read, short and concise. An excellent book for the layman or beginner, it explains WHY people are gay, or have gay tendencies. Written in the from a scientific point of view, the middle part of the text is comprised of case studies, some of whom are notoriously famous in history. I learned so much from this book, I can never imagine it going out of print. Karl Heimsoth was a German psychologist who was an understudy of Karl Jung, the disagreeing student and contemporary of Freud (the two "greats") . The original intent of these case studies, both of famous historic figures (such as Adolf Hitler) and of living subjects in asylums, was to discover the underlying predispositions for lunacy-- so termed because madness, crime, violence and nervous breakdowns were and are known today to increase with the cycle of the full moon. Therefore, there was some biological relation between us and the heavens. It was common practice at the time then to obtain an astrological birthchart when diagnosing any illness, including insanity. There was little separation then between medicine, astrology, and psychology. This is the same moon now above us, changing vectors each 2 hours, that when measuring its angle to the sun (and minuscule influences from a couple of the other planets)and placed within the context of the 12 vectors, to impart traditional and proven meaning, will yield the generic horoscopes we read in the daily newspapers . The position of the heavens at birth were shown to influence all sorts of physical maladies, so mental illness was thought likely to be indicated as well. However, to his surprise, what he found was a glaring incidence of and correlation with homosexuality and (initially) the moon- which pushed him to study further (he never truly "went in" for that sort of thing, but it was assigned to him as a grad. student). As with the other (unfortunately mostly-unknown) great astrologers of our century, (Grant Lewi and Joseph P. Goodavage; also Ursula Lewis with the birthday-of-any-month section, and Donna VanToen's "Mars Book," includes where is best to live & how it affects you)who were for the most part mathematicians who set out to disprove astrology, but found the patterns he found were far too ironic to be mere coincidence. Heimsoth felt compelled to publish them, even though he feared ridicule and the disbelief of others. So very simply, one is told what to look for and has but to know the birthdate (and time and place, in that order, for exactness) of someone to determine their sexuality. Very exciting! All else one needs to start working is a book with planet-position charts. The first two mentioned above are great, with Goodavage being the best/simplest, and Grant Lewi giving a math formula to find the moon's place so your book is never obsolete (otherwise, you can use nautical charts for the moon's position, that quickly-moving orb could take 6 books without either of these). That is, if you want to do this, and invade someone's privacy (so to speak); or if not, this book is great simply for understanding the mechanisms behind gayness. The moon represents the mother, and femininity; the sun, masculinity and the father. One can view a persons whole family from a birthchart, which is what the middle section of the book is. Some findings are surprising, and the opposite of what one would think. If men are gay and effeminate, one would expect the moon in their chart to be well-aspected (trine angles on the circle/ a third of the pie-chart; it resembles a clock); but the opposite was true. The moon was "afflicted"/ at a negative angle (squared=90 degree right angle) with the two "malevolent" planets, Mars(conflict) and saturn(inhibition). Then, he also found that women were totally different, with lesbians having the sun (masculinity) as the "indicator" when afflicted in a chart. Thirdly, he found that there was an alternate indicator for each sex: Uranus (yes, I too found the pun humorous)for men (representing unpredictability, unconventionality and things hidden) and Neptune (illusions, dreams) for women. The meanings of these alternates were unclear to him, but there was a clear pattern. As for the sun/moon, he summated that (ironically)gays exhibit more of the trait which they inherently lack, in a natural attempt to regain equilibrium. The book begins with a brief overview of who he was and how the book came to be written-- because he felt people should know what he discovered. (I am shocked more of us are not given the opportunity to know of it). The back of the book also has a wonderful, easy-to-read summary for those who needed clarifying of points or who could not see what the facts presented for themselves. Also at the end are some (somewhat shocking) bizarre/ abnormal sexual practices that most, including myself, probably do not know exist. An excellent buy for the money too, ( ) ; makes a great gift. Also available in the original German. (Hopefully, I have broken no laws here; student cannot afford to be sued. But try getting blood out of turnips).
