Very interesting book of someone who has got a deep knowledge of the time and issue. I would have wished a closer connection to gender studies and the work of Thomas Laqueur, but I can get that elsewhere.

Best book yu can buy on the subject for under $100. although i do think the athor digresses a bit too much and goes into how hard it is to tell things from that time period a bit too often instead of just covering the topic to the best of his ability
