5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my needs, February 10, 2013
This review is from: Honda CB1000R
I recently purchased the 2013 CB1000R. It's a tad heavier and taller than my 919 (i'm only 5'5") but so far, it seems to be a better overall bike. The power is amazing. I've seen the competitors...Kawi Z1000...Ducati Monster...and the build quality of this bike surpasses what I've seen. The Kawi is taller and doesn't hold it's value like the Honda even though it's more powerful and faster. The's a great bike but maintenance is VERY pricey which leads to overall higher cost of ownership. One other bike I considered was the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 which, in my opinion, looks fantastic with the hard touring bags attached but again...Kawasakis are taller and I like Hondas better.

If you're a rider, you'll know what you like and don't like about what products but there are a few things I do not like about my Honda that apply to all bikes. There is no gear indicator (I keep searching for 7th gear), the kickstand is awkward to use, there is no centerstand available, the exhaust is trickier to replace with aftermarket because of it's location, there are no attachment points for any kind of touring bags, no external helmet lock (padlock on the passenger footpeg worked but looks out of place), and even though my feet barely touch the ground, I can't lower the bike.

The plusses? Well...power, torque, power, and torque. It's so useable. I can cruise at 35mph in 5th or 6th gear, roll on the throttle without downshifting, and still pull away like i'm in a lower gear. I didn't think I'd like the instrument display but it's easy to "read" at a glance. Insurance was cheap and I live in Los Angeles. The bike looks great... So far, I'm happy with it enough to highly recommend it to others.
