Definitive repair guide for Honda Civic,
By Columbus "Columbus" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Honda Civic 1984 Thru 1991: All Models (Haynes Manuals) (Paperback)
This book is well-structured by system (e.g., fuel and exhaust, engine electrical) and features thousands of actual black and white photos from the cars as well as thousands of diagrams. I found the book invaluable when I owned a 1991 Honda Civic CRX; a must-have for Civic owners.

Missing steps, small, crammed in text..,

I have to disagree with some of the glowing reviews here. I'm not a die-hard mechanic, but I wanted this book to help me do basic to medium repair jobs to save some money. For very basic stuff, it's ok. But in trying to do other more involved tasks, I found certain steps were missing, there was too much extra cross-referencing to other chapters needed, & the photos were not helpful for the steps at all. Add to that, the text is tiny, and not always bulleted out but written out in sentences which often combine a few steps into one.
I've worked on motorcycles mostly & compare it to my Yamaha manual, which is awesome - the text is large, bulleted into simple steps, the pics are specific to exactly what you're doing, and there are many of them. A beginner could start on that manual and go all the way thru to doing major overhauls. Also you dont have to break out a microscope to figure out what comes next like with this book. If you're experienced with car repair, this book may be fine for you, but I expected better, and will unfortunately have to look elsewhere. I think the Honda shop manuals are still the best, and you can even find pdf copies free on the web for some of them.
