The reason I bought this cargo cover was to hide the contents in the back of the Fit. The big problem here is that the cover does not hide the contents. There are gaps in both the front (between the seat and cover) and the back (between the window and cover). If you are just walking by the car fairly quickly you won't notice whats inside however if you stop to look you can easily peer into the 'gap' and see the contents. I also tried looking in at night with a keychain LED flashlight and can easily tell what is inside. I did a Google search on the 2012 Fit cargo cover to make sure I had everything installed correctly. What I found out is that they changed the design this year to allow the gaps for whatever reason. If you really want a cover I would recommend getting a custom one professionally installed. I ended up returning the product to the seller and got a full refund. A blanket in the back gets the job done if you really need to cover something and is much more portable.

On a side note, if you are looking for something to spruce up your Fit check this product out: Honda Genuine Factory OEM 08U20-S9V-101 Cargo Organizer

I was about to buy this cargo cover and I read all the issues with gaps and knew there had to be a solution. Well besides reclining your seats and staying with the 2013 model, you can buy the older version (2009 or so) and not only will it fit in your 2013 but it also has flaps that will cover any gaps between the seat and cover. I don't know of any other differences but it fit just fine for me.

Many people here at Amazon and on the Honda forum pages (on the Internet) have complained that the 2013 Honda Fit cargo cover leaves a gap. At first glance (and when first installed), it does seem to have a gap between the seat and the cargo cover. But you need to move the seat all the way back to close the gap. When you lift the seat release, pull it all the way up. The seat will then recline further and close the gap.

This is not immediately apparent. I made the same mistake everyone else did. I even called the corporate Honda 800 number and told them that the cargo cover design was a bad design. What's the point of having a cargo cover if it doesn't completely cover the cargo?!

But, in fact, it does cover the entire cargo area. It's just not immediately apparent.

Remember, you need to pull the seat release all the way up and then push the seat all the way back. There will be NO GAP whatsoever.

Other than this, the cargo cover is very easy to install.

I wanted a cover for the cargo area. This product seems expensive but upon reflection is about normal for OEM parts. Two things: Heed everyone's warning about reclining the rear seats. Yup there is a gap, and I would never have figured out that the rear seats recline without the helpful Amazon reviews. Also: get the clips that are taped inside the box before you throw the box away. These clips go on the lift gate so the strings can connect to them. They are not packaged nicely with the instruction manual; they are taped to the underside of the shipping carton. None the less: it fits, and it covers my cargo area so I'm happy!

I read all the reviews about how the 2013 cover leaves a gap and the 2009 does not. It is accurate. I went ahead and got the 2009 model of this for my 2013 Fit and it is a perfect fit, plus it DOES NOT LEAVE ANY GAP!! The 2009 cargo cover has two flaps that can be folded down or pinned down or whatever you like to completely cover the cargo area and the contents. The cover is genuine Honda, so it's not a knock-off and made with quality materials. The material is not very expensive though and picked up lint/dog hair almost immediately; it doesn't stay clean. The top shelf is fairly sturdy too; I can put a few grocery items on there and it supports the weight well. I didn't "install' my cover - I just attached it to the side bars and let the flaps fold over to cover the space; so I am not sure about installation in terms of screws and holes - it came with screws of some sort. I want to be able to easily take it in/out when I need to. It somehow makes the cargo area smaller because it's cutting off the height, of course. So for larger items you would actually have to remove it or make adjustments. I don't particularly like how it makes the cargo space smaller, but it's necessary for when you have valuable contents in the back. My back windows are fully tinted and now with this it's all good and feels more secure.

I also thought I had not installed the cargo cover correctly, with at least a 2-3 inch gap between the back seat and the cover. I reclined the seats back a bit and it fits closer but not enouogh. I also recommend a blanket to fill in the gaps. Also you cannot raise the cover from the trunk side as it is too big to fold back. But better than nothing. Looking for something else that fits better.

The 2012 model 08U35-TK6-111 did not come with the so called snaps and backing that you have to install to the back of the seats. (this would fill the gap)

Yes there is a 3 inch or so gap between the back seats and this Cargo cover. I cannot understand why they designed it with a gap. I think that having the snaps would get annoying when I wanted to fold my seats down. My 1989 Toyota Corolla FX had one of these cargo covers and it fit just like this one did but there were no gaps.

Besides that small gap back there it covers the rest. I will be tinting the windows and even without the windows tinted you can not really see between the gap from the outside to see what is in the "trunk". I got this cover to cover the rear and protect from heat and prying eyes. For the price it should of covered the entire area. I can not see a design reason for it not extending in the back 3 more inches.

Because I will be tinting the windows in the end this will work out very nicely for me as extra protection for the sun and prying eyes. Some aftermarket company needs to come out with one that extends 3 more inches and for half the price and they would make a killing.

The cargo cover was so easy to install, fit perfectly (after I positioned the rear seats back as suggested by many here) no gap at all. Serves its purpose and is also easy in and easy out. I will agree with others it's a bit flimsy but it does make insertion and removal easier. Overall very happy with the cargo cover

This works as advertised, however... the trade-off for buying and installing this yourself is losing track of the tiny clips that are attached to the box somewhere. These allow you to clip the ties to the trunk door. Ours got thrown out with the recycling, and we had to track new ones down on an overstock honda parts store.

Since it ships with no instructions, this was easily overlooked and very annoying.

Ours fits the 2014 Fit just fine - the gap issue was resolved by this model/time.

This cargo holder was super simple to install. It matches the interior well and does what it's supposed to do :)
I do agree, it doesn't fully cover every angle perfectly, but enough to make it very hard for outside spectators to discern the contents of your trunk. I also have tints which make having a peek extra hard :) If you don't have any tints; I'd highly recommend this product for some trunk privacy.

Conclusion: Buy it already!

Happy Shopping!
