Book is well laid out with sections for regular maintenance and individual car sub-systems, highly recommended

I had a minor fender bender with my Pilot, and about had a heart attack when I found out how much the garage wanted to fix it. In the days before you needed a garage full of electronic gear to fix a car, you looked in a manual and fixed it yourself. So I ordered the Chilton's manual, and the part, and fixed the Pilot good as new. (And saved hundreds of dollars!) Thanks Amazon.

If this is the best manual out there.... the manuals are just ok. However, there are lots of free repair videos and tutorials on the web on car repair. I think this Manual would be far better if it had a accompanying website with Videos. Seems like common sense to me but they don't have it.

My first use and the reason I bought the book was to replace the front rotors and pads. I don't know why the book received poor reviews from others because it wasn't step by step enough, but how much detail do you need? I think if you need more detail than this book is giving you, you probably shouldn't be doing the work yourself. DIY's require a bit of common sense, right?
Anyway, I think the detail was just fine, I got my calipers, and pads off, I used the info it talked about using a hook to hold your caliper so the weight doesn't effect the hose, etc.
The only reason I will give this 4 stars and not 5, is that I do think they could have added some info on what to do if the retaining screws strip, which they will. They could have also added more info as to how to prevent the screws from stripping, by applying heat from a blow torch for about a minute, and than slamming the screw driver bit with a hammer into the screw head. I used an impact driver, and out of 4 screws, only one came out using heat and impact driver.
After searching online, I found the fix to it, but the book could have added that. Not quite the fault of them leaving it out, would have been useful.
I still think the book is great, and look forward to doing the next project!

Exactly what I expected from other Chilton books. This should get you thru 80% of what most will be able to fix on their Pilot. The shop manual would have the rest.

Ordered from Amazon as was about half what the auto parts store was asking. My husband works on all of our cars and these books are the best.
