honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe provides tools to edit and produce video files quickly and easily. The software also offers unique features that allow the production of DVD/CD movies to be an enjoyable experience -- you can convert your home videos to DVD/CD movies with just a few clicks. Plus, advanced scene editing tools allow you to record movies and trim out commercials or unwanted scenes. You can also easily add special effects, titles, menus and chapter points. Once you've got your VHS movies transferred, all of your home movies will play in superb digital quality. Now you can simply load the DVD/CD that you have produced and play it on your home DVD player or PC.
With VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe, you can set your recording times, allowing you to step away from your computer while the software does its work on longer videos. When the recording is done, you can burn the video to the media of your choice (the software supports CD-R/RW, DVD+/-R, and DVD+/-RW). You can also set the recording time so that only the segment of a video you want is made into a digital video clip. VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe offers convenient file management, too -- movie clips are managed in a File Pool for ease of viewing, editing, and deleting.
For capturing analog video from VHS tapes and other sources, a USB 2.0 TV/video capture device is included. The device requires a USB 2.0 interface with speeds up to 480Mps, as well as Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP SP2. It does not require external power and it features a multi-cable input for connectivity with standard RF (cable TV), S-Video, and composite video. A USB connector and composite video/S-video combo cable are also included.

Save your money,

This review is from: Honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
Video quality is the poorest I've ever seen. Vhs copies of copies of copies are better. No audio during capture process. Editing is too complicated especially without a manual. The burning process doesn't work at all. Tech support can't even determine what thier own error codes mean. I broke my own first rule: NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM A COMPANY WITHOUT A PHONE NUMBER. Save your sanity and your money.

Wow, I have used a lot of different software programs for editing, copying etc. and Honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe is the WORST. There are so many limitations, I am not sure where to begin. First off, you have to have your tape already set up exactly where you want to begin copying. There is no option to rewind or fast forward. Not a major issue, but it does complicate things. I agree with the other reviewers comment on the quality, it is very very poor. Honestly, if you can purchase a dvd camcorder, invest the money towards that and record everything straight to dvd. In recording two separate videos, this program crashed my computer numerous times. I am running a Pentium IV, 2.8 ghz and this program killed my computer. There are so many bugs in it, I would bet that not even Honestech VHS to DVD 25.0 Deluxe would have the kinks worked out. My recommendation to all is avoid this program completely. It is not worth the money at all.

Doesn't work & crashes your computer too,
This review is from: Honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 Deluxe [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
when i installed the software, it gives u a warning that it has it hasn't been approved by MSoft as being compatible to Windows XP. However, the instructions tell you to go ahead anyway, which I did. The result: my computer crashed and I cannot even uninstall the USB 2.0 VIDBOX software, which just wasted 1.0 MB space in my computer hard drive. This software does not work!!! Since I got it from Costco, at least I could return it and get my money back. Had I bought it from a different store, my $50+ would have been wasted. Do not buy this product. You might crash your computer too!!! I wanted to give this a zero star but the lowest choice is 1.
