This review is from: Honey-Can-Do DRY-01116 Dryer Balls, 2-Pack (Kitchen)
I have used these dryer balls for over three years and like them a lot, but I like them because they reduce wrinkles. They do not replace fabric softener to eliminate static. I think they do soften clothes somewhat by separating things and fluffing them up throughout the drying process, but I really don't like static so they aren't a cure all. I will say that if I get the clothes out of the dryer quickly when it stops, I have no virtually no wrinkles on most things, which I attribute to the action of these balls tumbling around and between the clothes.
I have noticed no difference in the time my loads take to dry in general, but do see a difference when I have only a few things in the dryer. These items might otherwise cling to the sides, which would elongate drying time and set wrinkles, but with the balls, they keep tumbling and dry more quickly. I used to use tennis balls in the dryer, but find these balls more effective because of the projections, which are smooth and don't hurt clothes at all. Even though I like the balls and will rebuy when the ones I have wear out, I can't give them five stars because they don't replace fabric softener. Still I think they are worth adding to the dryer for the other reasons. They seem to last a long time so it's not much of an investment and I appreciate less wrinkles. Update 5/18/11 I got another version of these dryer balls (As Seen On TV :) from BB&B, (didn't see them on Amazon). They are pink with purple foamy squares. I added them in with these blue dryer balls so now I have four balls in there--and they do seem to reduce static. In four loads yesterday, including a load of nylon underwear and such, I had NO static. I did not put in the customary dryer sheet so I could test the new balls. It's humid here at the moment so I'm sure that helps, but I was impressed.

I have been using the balls for more than 4 years; it used to take 2 hrs or longer to dried a full loaded of towels (electric dryer); these ball reduce by half the time.
If you using gas dryer you might not notice the difference. tHEY DO SOFTEN THE CLOTHES & PREVENT STATIC (MOSTLY). The bad is they do make loud noise for 1st 15 min. until the heat soften the ball. -so I now throw the ball in after 10 min. I have upgraded to a front load washer & it take about 30 to 40 min to dried now- still have same dryer. SO far the dryer balls has not worn a bit.
