It is made of red nylon fabric with green accents to style with other holiday gear. It comes setup with 40 compartments, but the dividers can be removed to accommodate larger ornaments as well. The top simply fits on top, similar to a shoe box. It is 30-inch L by 17.5-inch W by 5-inch H and each compartment is about 3.5-inch by 3.75-inch.

I'd always just kept my ornaments in their original boxes, but the time came that those boxes were no longer sturdy enough to keep them safe. I tried out a few of these and am really happy with them. The box comes flattened and folded up with all the dividers removed, so it's easy to store. The container and dividers are really easy to put together and took me only a minute or two. The slots for the ornaments are rather large- you can fit two medium sized ornaments in one section and tons (10+) of smaller ones. The bottom and sides are sturdy so I don't worry about the bottom falling out and the lid closes enough to appease me. Overall, very happy with this purchase.

First off, yes, the lid fits nicely, but doesn't latch (which would be nice) so you need to be able to lay it flat. That being said, it's quite sturdy and so we're able to stack four of them on top of each other without worry. We bought two last year and liked them so much we bought two this year. The compartments are nice and big and, yes, since they're sturdy cardboard, you could customize them (though we haven't had to do that). Also, we store these in our attic, where it gets quite hot in the summer. Many plastic containers we've used for other storage get sort of weird and sticky in the extreme heat - these storage boxes do not suffer from that probelem and hold up quite nicely.
