5.0 out of 5 stars Poignant, humorous inspirational romance, March 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hi Honey, I'm Home (Palisades Pure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)

Kathryn Sinclair is tired of her spouse, international reporter Nick Egan, leaving her and their son alone to cover all the world's hot spots. She did not even bother to tell him that she was pregnant, knowing he had no time to care about that minor inconvenience. They agreed to divorce and were going to sign the papers upon his return from his latest overseas adventure. However, they never signed the papers as Nick died during a terrorist act.

During the next five plus years, the widow raised her two sons and opened up a very successful import business. However, her world spins off kilter when Nick arrives at her door and glibly announces: "HI HONEY, I'M HOME". Nick swears his captivity forced him to reassess his values, resulting in a changed person who believes that God has given him a second chance with his family. Kathryn refuses to believe him, but allows him time with their children. Soon, the three males bond and launch a campaign to persuade Kathryn that Nick has changed and belongs with all of them as part of a functioning, loving family.

HI HONEY, I'M HOME is a poignant yet very humorous contemporary relationship drama. The inspirational story line is filled with pathos and jocularity as the two children amusingly work to bring their parents back together. The metamorphosis of Nick from family deserter to full family supporter is well designed, believable, and will touch many hearts. Linda Windsor scribes a warm, uplifting tale that leaves the audience feeling positive towards the future if they embrace the values inspired by love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hi Honey, I'm Home; Rings True, July 30, 2000

I've read some inspirational/Christian romances before, but this one by far beats all others I've read. Windsor has written a very believeable story in this book, and she describes the characters at a level more in-depth than most other contemporary authors. This book has made me think, and realize that the messages in it, of the Prodigal Son, the Christmas story, and the need to listen to God, and not take life into your own hands, are some of the most improtant lessons out there today. This would be a great book to give as a gift, or to buy for yourself, whatever the case, you won't put it down until you're done with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars My great introduction to inspirational romance, May 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hi Honey, I'm Home (Palisades Pure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not really keen on starting on inspirational romances - my friends told me they tend to be on the preachy side. Yet I picked this one up because, looking at the cover, I thought it looked just like Harrison Ford. How can an Indiana Jones-Han Solo-Witnessphile like me resist?

I'm surprised to say that I absolutely adore this book! True, sometimes the characters dip into blandless with their goodness (especially the hero), but I'm never tempted to yawn or roll up my eyes the way I do when I watch most moralistic daytime TV movies. I don't mind having this two wonderful couple and their kids as a neighbour, in fact.

If they do make a TV movie out of this book, may I suggest Harrison Ford as the lead?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read!, December 17, 2004

This review is from: Hi Honey, I'm Home (Palisades Pure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The genre of Christian fiction has improved immensely over the last few years but this has to be one of the best I've ever read - and I've read a lot! Ms. Windsor gives us believable yet flawed characters, isn't heavy-handed with the Christian angle and infuses a great deal of fun and humor. After finishing this book I honestly wanted to know more about these characters because their lives and struggles seemed so real. Linda Windsor is a terrific writer and I'm looking forward to reading more of her work.

5.0 out of 5 stars I had to loan this to my mother-in-law - whimper, March 14, 2003
This review is from: Hi Honey, I'm Home (Palisades Pure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was so wonderful that I just could not put it down. And now it's loaned out I think I'll buy another (just in case it goes the rounds). I loved the natural, unobtrusive way that God is whom this family's lives revolve around. Kathryn was on the verge of divorce because her husband Nick was such a workaholic that he had no time for family or for faith. As they are both the most important things in Kathryn's life, I could understand her hurt. They are also the only things in life that really matter to me. So when Nick bops in after being declared dead 5 years before, Kathryn is very skeptical about his claims of faith found in a prison camp. Forgiveness is very difficult for us all, but as I recall, Jesus said that we must forgive others before he can forgive us. Food for thought.

This book is by far, the most absloutely wonderful book I've ever read that not only has great morals, (And one cool ending...) But, it's written to not have all that disgusting stuff in it that these non-christain writers use now. This is one awesome book! I have read on Miss Windsors books, and she has some good ones out there! I hope ya'll will read more of her books also, she's a wonderful writer, so talented!

Linda Windsor's "Honey, I'm Home" is the touching, tender story of a couple separated first by a pending divorce, then, by the husband's untimely death in a volatile country. Before signing the divorce papers, Nick Egan takes a journalism assignment that cost him his life. Kathryn moved on with her life, raising her boys as a single parent. After 6 ½ years, when the doorbell rings on one of the biggest professional evenings of Kathryn's life, Nick stands on the stoop and sends his wife's world into a tailspin.

Will they move forward with the divorce? Or can Nick convince Kathryn that he is a different man, and he'd like to make up for lost time, hurt feelings, and win her heart all over again? This is a wonderfully romantic tale that will bring several smiles to your face.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, December 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hi Honey, I'm Home (Palisades Pure Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one book that I found difficult to put down. Mrs. Windsor has a way of captivating her audience. Each chapter just flowed from one to the next. The main characters in this book, Kate and Nick, are people whom you can relate to. Especially for those who have walked away from their walk with God as well as those who are struggling in their marriage. She offers hope all through the book. I am so glad that I bought this book and one I intend to keep in my library. It was definetly an insprational romance! Thank you Linda for listening to the Lord on writing books.

This is the first Linda Windsor book I have read. It was a little difficult to begin with but was an incredible story of how God can change anyone's heart. It is also a great story of forgiveness and reconciliation.
