Great read.,

People criticize Sandburg as being too literal and sappy. Read Honey and Salt. You may find as I did that it doesn't really matter.

I read this book when it first came out as a young teen. I loved the subjects Sandburg made immortal in such expressive words. My favorite remains "Cahokia". The richness of the imagery and the honesty of sentiment remind me of long summers along the Mississippi River Palisades.
