Edge of your Seat - Fun Ride!, September 20, 2006
This review is from: The Honeymoon is Over (Paperback)
The Honeymoon is Over is the story of Nelson Kennard, ambitious owner of Kennard Janitorial Services. He works continuously as he wants his company to have contracts in every major city in the United States, not just San Francisco. Nelson is a competitive yet impulsive man by nature. He was drafted out of college as the #1 NBA draft pick by Philadelphia, yet he never played one professional game due to a career ending injury caused by his own stupidity.
Nelson is engaged to and in love with Parris Stalls. Parris wants money and an easy lifestyle now. One night Parris calls and ends their relationship saying she is tired of sitting at home while he works and furthermore she tells him he will never be a success. Nelson is distraught and goes to Parris' house only to find Parris in bed with a former baskeball rival, Shenandoah Armstrong.
Thus begins a story of twists, turns, and surprises at every chapter. Let me say that Nelson doesn't just get angry, he gets even...or does he? This is a perfect fictional depiction of a man's reaction to rejection by a lover and the lengths he will go to prove his lover unjustified in leaving him...or will he? This is a fun read and, as with most of Mr Johnson's books, there is thought provoking material as well. For those of you who have read Fate's Redemption, Sterling Wise is back as he is Nelson's best friend.
The Honeymoon is Over is a must read...a little mystery, a good story, an ending that will surprise you. As an added plus, after you read the book, the title will make you laugh every time you think about it.

Action!, January 9, 2007
This review is from: The Honeymoon is Over (Paperback)
Author Keith Lee Johnson introduces readers to Nelson Kennard in his latest novel, The Honeymoon Is Over. Nelson is a hardworking man working at the Kennard Janitorial Service. He is engaged to Parris Stalls. At the beginning of the story, Parris calls Nelson to tell him their relationship is over. Parris has become caught up with what her girlfriends are telling her and she tells Nelson that she is sick of waiting for him to get her the things she deserves. Nelson is very hurt by Parris breaking off their engagement. He is even more hurt when he sees a rival from his past going into Parris' place. This is only the start of the drama.
The Honeymoon Is Over will take you on a roller coaster ride. This book is filled with action, drama and suspense. This read was well written and the author did a great job of developing the characters. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it to others. I stayed up late into the night to find out what happened to the characters in the story. Although this is my first time reading Keith Lee Johnson's work, it will definitely not be my last.

Unabashed Ignorance, October 23, 2006
This review is from: The Honeymoon is Over (Paperback)
Nelson Dubois Kennard, at 40-years old, is a two time divorcée. His girlfriend, Parris Stalls, of four years has greedily decided that his being broke is too much for her to continue to digest. After all, Parris is alarmingly beautiful. In fact, her splendor can afford her a man of means. Thankfully, Parris doesn't have to search hard for her rich man. Shenandoah Armstrong, Nelson's former basketball rival, has the resources that Parris desires.
While Nelson suffers through his loss, he is consoled by Grace Underwood, his banker. Grace appears to be generous, hospitable and a sacrificial spirit. Can she be his "saving" Grace?
Nelson is the driving force behind taking Kennard Janitorial Services to a new level. Now that his life is making a profit, he finds himself traveling the ladder of triumph. Is that the sweet reward he's always sought after?
Just as readers are awestruck by the why, how and what of things, Nelson finds himself again ready for love. In spite of his pruning, he is caught up in another web of lies and deceit. Will Nelson's newfound wealth and prestige keep him from misusing his power or will greed and reprisal end his chances for a new life?
THE HONEYMOON IS OVER is sheathed with commotion, infidelity, love, sex, self-indulgence and spite, all of the necessary requirements for a Keith Lee Johnson signature novel. In this reader's opinion, this is the hottest novel to date by Keith Lee Johnson. If by some coincidence, readers have yet to experience Keith's knowledge, capacity or suspense in writing, The Honeymoon is Over, is a great way to begin.
