5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 80's CD for all rock fans...
After purchasing Honeymoon Suite's self-titled debut album, I'd like to say that I have a new favorite band to add to my humongous, eclectic rock collection! Although their follow-up album "The Big Prize" (1985) sounds a bit better, this album does pull off its own share of musical blasts from this Canadian quintet. "New Girl Now" takes the gold...

3.0 out of 5 stars It is ok, but not great
Short and sweet, this is an ok CD with ok songs, New Girl Now is what this CD is all about, unless you are a huge fan of 80's metal music, and I mean huge, this cd is just ok, 3 songs are pretty good the rest mediocre. My advice, listen to all the songs then decide if ya want it. I bought it as I have a giant collection of music and never had this on Vinyl so the price...

"New Girl Now" takes the gold as a song that most guys can relate to in times of angst-ridden break-ups followed by new love interests with some powerful guitar melodies and booming drum beats. "Wave Babies", "Funny Business", and "Turn My Head" all follow suit as the best-sounding tracks on this CD. I don't know if it's just me, but I think that Canada has bred some of rock's most powerhouse bands ever! Honeymoon Suite has lived up to that expectation, and my ears haven't deceive me yet! Get this album for starters; you won't rue the day, I guarantee it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard-rocking, Unique, Catchy, but Powerful, band..., April 12, 2001
This review is from: Honeymoon Suite (Audio CD)
The very first time I heard my very first song by Honeymoon Suite, I stood up and took notice. The year was 1984, the radio station was WAPP back in New York, and the song was "New Girl Now." I was majorly impressed. (That was right after I had said, "Honeymoon WHO?") After all, the song is a unique combination of British-sounding pop, Canadian hard rock, and American new wave. This was a band that proudly wore all of its influences on its sleeve!

Just as I was getting into this song, I saw the incredible video for the band's next single "Burning In Love." I was again very impressed, as I really liked the song while noticed that it did not sound anything like the previous song.

Well, to make a long story short, I eventually purchased this CD (as well as the follow-up "The Big Prize") and I must day that Honeymoon Suite, after all these years, still rocks, still rolls, and is still a very unique band in the history of rock 'n' roll. If you have heard just "New Girl Now" and are wondering whether or not to purchase this CD, do yourself a favor and buy it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Memorable Rock Music That's Timeless, April 24, 2003
This review is from: Honeymoon Suite (Audio CD)
Honeymoon Suite hit the mark with their impressive debut album
with intense, catchy tunes that the lyrics just seem to roll right off your tounge. "New Girl Now" "Burning In Love"
"Stay In The Light" Are the highlights of this canadian rock classic. What differs Honeymoon Suite from other hard rock canadian acts is that their music has certain type of appeal
that is never ending still to this day you can hear their music on the radio. I've also seen them in concert in Toronto a long while back it's amazing to see the same intensity they have in
their music transformed to the live show it was an unbelvable
experience. Along with other bands like Rush, Triumph, Loverboy
Red Rider, Honeymoon Suite Deserves a place in the rock n roll
hall of fame for making Canadian Rock Music A force to reckon
with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Honeymoon Suite had a unique sound that was very appealing, September 6, 2008
This review is from: Honeymoon Suite (Audio CD)
"New Girl Now" comes from Honeymoon Suite's excellent debut LP; it wasn't until its second record, however, that the band made a name for itself: 1985's The Big Prize contained the hits "Bad Attitude," "Feel It Again," and "All Along You Knew" (with Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson). Racing After Midnight, a solid record from 1988, contained "Lethal Weapon," a popular song from the hit movie of the same name. Honeymoon Suite had a unique sound that was very appealing; I'm surprised the band wasn't more successful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Ol' Canadian Rock Band from The 80's, March 29, 2001
This review is from: Honeymoon Suite (Audio CD)
The thing about this Canadian rock group is it's non-commercialized approach to their style of hard rock. To me, the "hard" part is loaded with hooks both musically and lyrically. The next best thing is that Honeymoon Suite is the kind of great group for non-hard rock listeners to enjoy as well ! This '84 debut is remarkably impressive and still sticks out as and excellent rock band from the 80's...
