Installation Instructions:
- Turn the air cleaner OFF and unplug from the wall outlet.
- To open, unscrew the locking mechanism and detach the lid (or endcap for 17200 series) from the main housing.
- Remove the filter assembly (pre-filter and HEPA filter) from the internal chamber. For 18150 series, the pre-filter is located at the bottom of the unit, away from the HEPA filter replacement area.
- Remove the pre-filter from the HEPA filter. Discard the HEPA filter.
- Remove the new HEPA filter from its package. Carefully wrap the pre-filter around the new HEPA filter, and attach using the fasteners provided (except for 18150 series where the pre-filter is located at the bottom of the unit).
- Place the filter assembly into the internal chamber, replace the lid (or endcap) and base, and tighten the locking mechanism. Turn air cleaner to an operable position.
- Using the convenient HEPA Filter Change Reminder labels provided, peel off and write in the next year you need to replace the HEPA filter (which is 1 to 3 years from the change, depending upon use) and place it onto your air cleaner. For model series 17200 and 18150, reset HEPA filter button according to directions in owner's manual.
- Plug air cleaner into a power outlet and it is ready for operation.

Before ordering a replacement HEPA filter for your Honeywell (or other brand) Air Cleaner, be sure to check the model number on the unit. This filter is for four Enviracare Models (51500, 61500, 11520, and 17200). I replace my HEPA filter every year because I am very allergic to cigarette smoke, pollens, dust, molds, and other allergens and irritants. Honeywell suggests that you replace your HEPA filter every 1-3 years. Also, this HEPA filter has pre-filters which wrap around it, so you may want to order a box of those, too. Honeywell recommends that the pre-filters be changed every 3 months, but I've found if I vacuum them at least once a month, I can keep them longer. I really like my HEPA filters because they remove so much dust and pet hair from the air.

Alert--does not fit in the unit it claims to fit,

I have a 50150 model and it says right on the label attached to the bottom of it to buy replacement filter 21500.
On the the box that this came in it says it will fit 50150 but this filter was not tall enough for my unit. It was too much trouble to send it back so I ripped the rubber off the top of the old filter and attached it with silicone to this new one. That was enough to get it to fit but I should not have to do that for a 50+ dollar filter. I don't know if this is a one-off problem but I do see I'm the only one with this problem to post a review.
