I wanted to add some new zones to my alarm and ADT wanted a fortune for these things, so I found this one on Amazon that is the same model that ADT uses. The ADT technician warned me that sometimes ADT uses special sensors that only work with ADT systems and other sensors might not work, but I asked him to try this one anyway. It works great! I have the ADT SafeWatch 3000 system.

I bought this to replace a faulty sensor on my ADT Quick Connect system.
Of course, ADT wanted $100+ to send a guy out to punch in the code to activate the new sensor.I asked them to give me instructions on how to setup the new sensor and they refused (because according to them, they have to supply me with one, so they can charge me double or triple what this honeywell 5816 is worth)

So this is what you do to replace a sensor.

go to http://intellahome.com/alarmpdfs/lynxplusinstall.pdf and download and print this manual. It applies exactly to the quick connect system

Then go to your security panel and punch

6321 800 (you should see programming menu on screen..if you do not, stop as your configuration may be different)
*
(now you should have a blank screen)
*56 (this will put you on the zone configuration menu)
then type the 2 digit zone number you need to modify

Then follow pages 38-41 on the instruction manual

Basically you have to delete the serial number of your existing zone, then place the menu on autolearn, and with this new sensor (the lid and battery has to be on) place the magnet on the side of the sensor, You will hear 1 beep. Take the magnet away for a few seconds, and then place it against the sensor again, you will hear a 2nd beep and the serial information will be filled automatically on the screen.
Keep pressing * until you get to the next zone #, then press 00 * 99 to exit

FYI, this sensor has to be setup in the following configuration on the Quick connect
Zone type = 03 (perimeter) should show B03 on screen
Report Code = 10 (should show C10 on screen)
Input type = 3 (should show D3)
If system asks for LOOP NUMBER, use 2 (for the magnet type) or 1 (for the wired type)

I bought a couple of these as add-ons for my existing ADT system, which was all-wireless. I didn't get the chance to install them before I moved, but luckily these items were also compatible with the hard-wired system that was installed in my new house. I have them installed on both panels of a double-door for extra security.

I gave them to the technician, and he installed them for no additional charge. If I had bought them directly from him it would have added $80 to my bill for each one.

You might get lucky and have a flexible installer like I did, or you may be able to call your current ADT provider for technical support with installation on your own. I didn't put these on myself, but I wouldn't hesitate to tackle the job, as the technician had them installed and connected in about 5 mins.

As far as I can tell these transmitters are easy to install and work with most ADT systems on the market today. And you can't beat the price, especially compared to the retail (or even discounted) rates the ADT installer would charge.

I cannot guarantee it will work with your specific system, especially if it is more than ~5 years old, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again myself.

Shipping and packaging was good too.

These are good products. Installed 9 of them with zero issues. They are quite large, so if you have the money, I'd definitely suggest going with the slim versions. If I had a complaint, it would be the size, but it was expected when I ordered it.

They work with just about any Honeywell system. They are big though. I found windows to put these on which are rarely opened and not typically visible. I sprung for the 5811 for my more commonly used windows.

Pretty much plug and play. For those in the "know", this device has two setting. Loop 1 and Loop 2. I had to use Loop2 for the connection to work properly.

Great item. Was so much cheaper than the same item from my alarm company. Arrived on time and configured easily into my LINX alarm system.
