Excellent Thermostat,
By
This review is from: Honeywell CT8775A1007 Digital Round Thermostat (Tools & Home Improvement)
I have been using one of these to control a wood furnace for several years now, and there is simply nothing better for the job. Prior to this I had tried several other thermostats including a standard Honeywell Round, but none of them controlled the furnace with any accuracy at all (2-4 degree temp swing). This thermostat with it's excellent 'Heat Anticipator' Circuit controls the wood furnace with no more than a 1 degree of temperature swing (unless you over-fire it of course). I am getting ready to install electric radiant floor heat on an inclosed porch, and this is the only thermostat that I am even considering using.

This review is from: Honeywell CT8775A1007 Digital Round Thermostat (Tools & Home Improvement)
My review is of the Honeywell CT8775A1007 thermostat.
This is a digital device which works very much like a traditional analog thermostat. Some posts have mentioned a need to keep track of wires. I don't see how that could be much of a problem. Install was straight forward, turn off the furnace, remove the old thermostat. Separate the new thermostat into it's 3 component pieces (they snap together and snap apart). Mount the wall piece to the wall with the included screws. The biggest problem was not letting the thermostat wires fall into the wall. This unit has two electrical connections only. They are labeled R and W. My old thermostat had a red and white wire going to it, with a spare unused green wire which was not stripped. I detached the red and white wires from the old thermostat, and attached the red wire to the R terminal of this thermostat, then did the same with the white wire to the W terminal. After it was wired, the 3 sections of this thermostat needed to be snapped into place. The furnace was then powered on, and the function of the thermostat was verified. It works fine with my heat only hot water valve controlled baseboard system. Backlights only come on when the unit is touched, when backlit it is easy to read in the dark. Without the backlight on, there needs to be good ambient lighting. Setting is simple, turn the outside case to and adjust the set temperature. After a few seconds of not moving the dial, the thermostat reads the rooms temperature. It was shipped with instructions in English and Spanish. The instructions were clear enough, but were for more than one model. This model is for heat only, and is very easy to wire. Most of the instructions were for the more advanced model which can control fans and air conditioning.

Stopped Working After 2 Years,
By John (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews

The title pretty much sums it up. After less than two years, the thermostat would only sometimes kick on when it's supposed to. This is unacceptable. I would have given the product 5 stars otherwise.
