5.0 out of 5 stars These filters last longer!
We run two humidifiers all year round here--it's dry in the desert--and these filters are MUCH better than the reg ones. It's worth a little more to get these. That blue stuff on the outside helps them last longer and filter the air better.

I don't even know why they still make the non-airwashing filters. These Honeywell HAC-504 Replacement Filter for Honeywell Humidifiers really do take a lot of the dust out the air, but more importantly these filters holdup a lot longer than the HONEYWELL/ENVIRACAIRE HAC-504 Replacement Filter Pad ones do, and they really aren't that much more expensive. These filters are mislisted though, their real part number is HAC-504AW, the "AW" is for "Air Washing", because for the blue layer of filter material.

Unfortunately the manufacturer has recently made a product change that I find very disappointing, the filter's thickness has been reduced in half - while keeping the price unchanged. This of course then cuts in half the amount of wet area exposed to the air stream making the humidier less effective!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Filter is Great. Better to get filter replacements, not new humidifiers all the time, January 10, 2010

It drives me crazy that stores sell humidifiers but usually not filter replacements. Do they think we're going to buy a new humidifier every time we need a new filter? I like being able to buy whatever filter I need at Amazon.

These filters are heavier duty than ones I previously used in other humdifiers. This is my second winter using the current humidifiers. I bought 4 of the same model all at once just so that I would only have to get one type of filter. This turned out to be a good idea and my home has decent humidity in winter.

In this purchase, I got ten filters and they arrived all at once, each in its own box. Since these are great filters, I think they are worth the price.

The main thing is if you have a humidifier requiring filters to get a good supply and be able to change them as needed. I think these filters would cost more in a store since the stores want to sell a new humidifier rather than keep you supplied with filter for the humdifiers that they have sold in the past couple of years.

Remember to keep the blue side facing out! (I made that mistake once.)

2.0 out of 5 stars A lot you can say about the poor quality of this filter, December 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Honeywell HAC-504AW Humidifier Wick Filter, Single (Kitchen)
Length:: 0:35 Mins

This filter appears to be a genuine Honeywell filter but is much thinner and does a poor job of evaporating the water. The previous filter would empty a 1.5 gallon tank in 24 hrs. With this filter it is 1/2 full 24 hrs. later. See my video for direct comparison. I suspect the other 1 and 2 stars reviews do not realize this is a different filter. I searched the box and both say Honeywell HAC-504aw. It appears to be made by Honeywell. Honeywell go back to the old filter or I will get a different brand of humidifier.

1.0 out of 5 stars these thin filters significantly reduce output, January 27, 2011

I am very disappointed in this replacement filter. I put it in my humidifier, noticing it was noticably thinnner but thinking it probably didn't matter. My humidifier put out significantly less moisture. I thought my humidifier was just getting old (which it was) and replaced it with a new one, HCM-630, which worked much better. (My new humidifier came with a MUCH thicker filter which I used.) I ended up buying another HCM-630 and put one of these replacement filters in it just to test it out. The new humidifier put out about HALF the moisture with the thinner replacement filter. I thought I had a humidifier problem, but i had a filter problem (expensive mistake!) Anyway, I think the manufacturer should say on the humidifier, "3 gallons of output a day WITH THE ORIGINAL FILTER ONLY" (you can't buy a "replacement" filter that's as thick as the original one... this HAC-504AW is the official replacement). I am going to be calling the manufacturer to complain.

I bought two of these back in November and they each only lasted about 3 weeks before they lost their ability to absorb the water, leaving the humidifier running 24 hours a day with the tank completely full. What a waste!

If you live in a dry place or a place where your heating system dries out the air in your house in the winter, you probably rely on one or more humidifiers to keep your home comfortable and shock free. I have been using a Honeywell machine with this filter for three years now. Each winter I purchase about 10 of these filters to last the whole heating season. However, this year I noticed something new. Honeywell had clearly reduced the bulk of these filters. When I installed them I noticed the first night they were operating at about 50% less capacity than the very same filters I purchased last year. The older version used a full tank of water overnight when new, while this version uses only a half tank. That means a dried out nose in the morning, dry skin and static electricity that sends the cat running anytime you touch it. Thanks Honeywell for taking what was a good reliable product and making it ineffective. If you don't want to replace your humidifier, look for an aftermarket filter. That is what I am going to do.

1.0 out of 5 stars not the same quality as before!, September 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Honeywell HAC-504AW Humidifier Wick Filter, Single (Kitchen)
I just received my Honeywell filters. I ordered from Amazon.com last time and got a much better quality of filter than the one sent with this order. This time the product came in a green box with premium replacement filter on the outside. However the quality is not nearly as good as the previous product which came in a blue box. These are both wick type filters but they are not made the same. The inferior one has less thick washing layer and it isn't as dense. The inferior product weighs 1.5 ounces and the product I received before weighs 3 ounces. As you can see someone is trying to pass off a generic product for the same price. I am very disappointed in Amazon for going a long with this. Now I will try and return the inferior product and this is a big hassle for me. I find it hard to find these filters so I order them online. I will also complain to Kaz Incorporated about the inferior product. I paid 12.99 a filter so I could get the better quality filter. I did not get the quality I paid for!

I wrote Amazon about the product and they sent me a shipping label to send the package back free of charge. I am to get a refund in about two weeks. They also gave me 5.00 coupon for my next order. I have spent a lot of extra time writing them, writing this review, printing labels, repackaging the item and will still need to drop it off at UPS.

2.0 out of 5 stars This is a Honeywell brand filter???, June 11, 2011

I have used my Honeywell cool mist tower for several years now and this is the first time I have not been happy with a replacement filter. It is about half the thickness as the filters I have previously used. Pretty sad that it even has the Honeywell name on it. These filters don't last long for the price, and with the cheap quality of this one I am not expecting much. For a $100 humidifier and $12+ a filter (which only last a few weeks before they start to smell bad) it might just be time to buy a new humidifier.
