We bought this one to replace a larger Honeywell tower that had burned out the motor bearings. We have a room dedicated to small parrots, and they produce a lot of dander that we don't want to spread into the rest of the house. Our old Honeywell worked well, but it was hard to clean and fairly loud. This new one is much quieter, and works just as well, filtering a great amount of dander out of the air. It is far easier to clean, and the fact that no filters ever need to be replaced was a major reason for our purchase. It is running constantly, but it is virtually unnoticeable. We have tried several air purifiers over the years, and this is by far the best we have had.

We have three air purifiers in the house, all different brands. This Honeywell is, by far and in every respect, the best of all three. It is sturdy, very well-made and extremely efficient. We have it on 24/7 on the low speed and it completely neutralizes odors (we have 4 dogs) and, most importantly, it collects a large amount of dust and all kinds of particles. We've had this purifier for almost a year and it is as quiet today as it was on the first day. We also like the fact that the permanent filter is very easy to clean. Highly recommendable. Honeywell has always put out good products. The HFD-010 exceeded my expectations and makes for a good size air purifier for any room. It is not the biggest unit, and it does not have a lot of features for various control (just two speeds). On high speed, it took in a lot of air. Works well for hallways, bathrooms, and for kitchens, especially if you have pets or cooking smells that linger throughout the house. I also like the idea of it having a permanent filter.

I recommend this product. But if you want more options for speeds, you might want a bigger unit.

I purchased this one for my bedroom which is quite small (8x10). I have two other (round shaped and larger) Honeywell air purifier but wanted bit smaller and quiter purifier for the bedroom. What a waste! Yes, this is definitely quiter then the larger ones. However, this unit is just too small and don't have much sucking power at all to draw much dust at all.
I left the unit on 24/7 at full power and I can see dust in the room every where. After about 3 weeks of 24/7 operation, I checked the filter and there isn't barely much dust trapped at all. Also, this unit is too expensive for this kind of performance. We all suffer from the dust and allergens in the house and trying hard to reduce them. I would not recommend this product unless you really have very very small room. I would highly recommend everyone to purchse the LARGER size for air purifier to be effective in reducing dust & allergens. It might be noisier and bulkier but you need much stronger motor/sucking air power to reduce dust. This unit is just too small and no sucking power.

This air cleaner is incredible! Very quiet and works like a dream, plus no filters to change over and over. I work in a older office building near a pond, which has contributed to a lot of allergans and mold. I have my cleaner sitting on desk and it runs 24/7. Several people have commented on how much cleaner the air in my office smells. Plus I'm not coughing all day long! I did alot of research before I purchased this item, and definetly made the right choice.

I bought this because I have a cat with asthma (yes, I said a cat with asthma). My vet recommended I get an air purifier for her to cut down on her attacks. My kitty is just a doll and I'll do anything for her. She loves to sit in front of this because I think it helps her breathe. So far she seems to have less attacks in the bedroom where this is so I'll be getting the bigger one for the living room. My bedroom is small - 10x11' so I think this is a good size for a small room. I also like that it doesn't put out that funny smell some of the more expensive air purifiers do. I recommend it - I just wish it was a tad cheaper.

I ordered this filter as a replacement for one that finally died (different manufacturer). It works great, takes up very little floor "footprint" space, and even at at full speed (two settings only on the model I purchased), it's doesn't bother me. It's very lightweight and easy to move from room to room, if needed; you can pick it up with one hand and carry it. The filter releases easily from the unit, and while I haven't needed to clean it yet, the instructions make the process seem extremely easy.

I've got pets (one is on meds for respiratory issues) so this purifier MUST work well--so far, it's terrific. Highly recommended!

UPDATE: Almost a year later, this item is still working as well as it did when I bought it, it's on 24/7 at home and has made a big difference in air quality. Easy to clean, I vacuum the filters 1x a week and wash them 1x a month.

I bought this for two reasons: one, to get rid of some of the allergens and dust from the air; and two, to help get rid of the cigar smoke in the house. I smoke cigars, and even with windows open it takes forever to clear the air of the smell. While not perfect, this does help with both. The fact the filter is washable and permanent was a big selling point for me. The house smells a bit better for it as well.

The air cleaner has been running contineously since 7 Dec 09 and is still running. The filter is very easy to remove and the pre-filter is very easy to clean. Operation is very simple, 3 settings- off, low, high. I've had mine running on low since high is much louder. With it on low I am able to sleep even with it only a few feet away. It doesn't have any of the features of more expensive filters such as UV or ion, however more expensive models are available if that is important. I'm currently deployed to Kosovo and the air quality is very poor. I got sick a few weeks after arriving, purchased this air filter, and have not been sick since. I don't think this filter cured me, but sleeping in a better atmosphere may have helped me recover quicker and stay healthier. It definately didn't hurt!

We have two dogs in the house and this unit cleans the air in a 1200 sq. ft. house and the house is free of dog or other odors
