Expensive but effective,

I am allergic to cats, so naturally I adopted two and I'm about to get a third. I was STRUGGLING with my allergies so started looking into air purifiers and found that Honeywell consistently had good reviews. This was a very new model at the time I purchased and I was a bit nervous about being a guinea pig but my allergies clicked the purchase button for me.
I had to return the first unit because it started making a strange cyclic humming sound, kind of like the motor was getting tired - I'd only had it for about two weeks. Amazon Return Center is amazing and I had a replacement unit in two days. The second unit is great, I've had no problems so far. It's whisper-quiet (unless you crank it up to its highest setting, which isn't necessary) and I really notice a difference in the quality of the air. If I turn it off, I start getting the sniffles and itchy eyes in no time. I don't use the UV feature, but I do like the ionizer. ***UPDATE*** Unfortunately I've also had to arrange for the second unit to be returned, this time I contacted Honeywell directly. The purifier has been getting progressively more noisy and it sounds like the motor is straining. I'm really surprised because I have a couple of cheaper Honeywell units that have been on 24/7 for almost the last year and I have had absolutely no problems with them. I just don't think this unit is ready for the market yet. Honeywell customer service has been excellent, they were responsive and are going to exchange the purifier for one of their higher models at no charge. I think I might try the Rabbit Air purifier if the next unit I receive is not satisfactory. SIGH!

Works well but filters hard to find,

This air purifier does a great job and has a very modern look. I also like that it provides hepa, ion and traditional filtration all in one unit. You have a choice of using the included washable filter or a replaceable odor blocking filter. I find that the odor blocking filter is the way to go, but ordering additional filters is a real pain. There is a web site and part number on the filter bag but it only comes up with "search not found." I have not found these filters available anywhere but from the manufacturer and since their web site doesn't work, be prepared to sit on the phone placing your order.

I am searching for an air purifier to take care of dust and germs. I had a sharper image pro gp and tried this one to replace it. The features are great and it does circulate the air well, the only downside for me personally is that at the lowest setting, you can still hear the fan. Some people don't mind or like the noise but I personally like machines you cannot hear. That's my only downside.

I purchased this unit from Target/Amazon about a month ago. It works very well.
First off this is our situation. We already have a electrostatic filter for the home heating system, hardwoods and the only carpets we have is high grade. We always take off our shoes when in our house. The reason we got the unit is because we have two cats. :-) The first thing I noticed is when the unit is in the cats room there is no odor at all, completely gone. But the unit is quite large for a single room. I think it is a bit under rated. I moved it to our living room and ran it on medium for 4 weeks. First thing we noticed is that, when I painted one room in our house you could not smell the paint unless you are actually in that room. Second thing we noticed is that when we went to vacuum our electrostatic filter for the main heating system there was no dust. We figured it would be all in the heppa filter of the Honeywell but was not a lot there either. I think the ionizer makes the dust drop to the floor and is picked up by the vacuum cleaner. Just checked our electrostatic filter again and it is still spotless. Looking through the beam of a flashlight I see no dust at all in the beam. My wife also mentioned that there is much less dust on surfaces now. Does this unit work, oh yeah. The CZF-145 charcoal filter is $25 at www.kaz.com, according to specs it only last 3 months. Seems a bit pricey. One thing I don't understand is that if it has an IONIZER why do I not have access to the blades or are there any in there? Don't know and don't care as long as it keeps going.

After only an hour started to make the cyclic motor noise as others have stated. I returned and the second unit did the same. Its a great concept but poor design.

I just received mine yesterday and had it set up in less than 5 minutes. I'm using it in my basement office to get rid of smoke and dog odors. I ran the unit overnight with everything turned on, and it smells great this morning! I also like the fact that it kills allergens, and other negative particulates. So far so good. :)

I purchased this product many months ago and it has been working great since taking it out of the package. We have three dogs and it really gets a lot of dust and hair out of the air. I use it every night and on the nights I forget to turn it on I notice a real difference in the air quality. I always use the UV feature, but not the ionizing feature. I haven't had any problems and am very glad to own this product.
I haven't ordered a new odor filter yet but after searching for one online it seems difficult to find just as someone else had mentioned.

Rattling Sound,
By
This review is from: Honeywell HHT-145 HepaClean UV Antibacterial HEPA Tower 3-in-1 Air Purifier (Kitchen)
Picked it up at Target. After two days it started making a vibrating sound while in oscillation mode. In another two days I couldn't position it so it would be quite, even on the slowest setting. Poor build quality and loose plastic parts caused it to make the sound. Returned it. Now looking for a better build quality HEPA filter. Wish db ratings were given to make the selection easier. Seems most HEPA units will do the job of cleaning the air sufficiently, but the sound level and build quality matters. Reading the reviews the Winix 9000 or 5300 units seems like a reasonable gamble. Although the 5300 isn't listed on the Winix web site, but is sold here and other places online. Not sure why.

I use this product in the bedroom. It freshens the air that my wife breathes in. She has chest cold and I decided to use UV antibacterial. It helped placebo or for-real it worked for her chest cold to go away. I let it on at 3 or 6 of 12 level setting of power 24 hours 7 days. So far electricity bill isn't any different than before and air is really fresh.

This is an excellent purifier for home use. It reduces odor and dust in your house. At low fan speed, it is really quite. Value for the money.
