4.0 out of 5 stars Better than any I have found so far
I read the reviews posted here, but bought it anyway out of desperation for a humidifier. I have been very pleased. I have been using it for 1 month and have had no issues with leakage. I don't mind the demineralization cartidge b/c it doesn't get nasty like filters do and only has to be replaced every 2 months. I found a pack of 2 for a little under $5. You don't...

I had high hopes for this humidifier - cool looking, quiet....problem is, it a) stops humidifying after about 5 minutes and b) subsequently leaks all the water out of the tank onto your floor. The problem is that the water empties out of the tank and into the well way too quickly. When the well is too full, the "sonic" humidifier doesn't do its job and all of the mist gets trapped underneath the releasing column. And then it starts to overflow and leak water ALL OVER your floor (also quietly, so you don't notice until you have a large puddle on your hardwood floor). This is the result of a simple design flaw: the little plunger that releases water from the tank into the well is just the wrong height or something so the water release is improperly timed. Small flaw, big problem. I tried to adjust its sensitivity but adjusting its height but alas, this machine has defied my greatest (albeit makeshift) engineering efforts. Please do yourself a favor and DO NOT purchase this piece of crap. I wouldn't take it if someone paid me to, and now I have to pay shipping charges to return it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy This Humidifier!!, November 16, 2005
This review is from: Honeywell HUT102 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Tower (Kitchen)
The first one I bought never put off any mist---returned it for another.I've had this one for 3 weeks now, and 90% of the time it leaks water from between the tank and base(the unit is always on a flat surface).I gave it 1 star because it does work fairly well and is "silent" as advertised. But unless you enjoy cleaning up water off the floor and don't mind the possibility of water damage to wherever you place this dehumidifier I must

recommend DO NOT BUY!!

1.0 out of 5 stars not filterless as advertised!, December 19, 2005

Honeywell advertises this humidifier as filterless, which is what sucked me into buying it. It turns out the unit has a replaceable "demineralization cartridge" which cost $6 for a pack of two (not much less than the cost of filters for other humidifier models). I can't comment on the functioning of the unit, since I plan on returning it tomorrow. False advertising pisses me off.

2.0 out of 5 stars Worked intially, but. . ., January 28, 2006
This review is from: Honeywell HUT102 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Tower (Kitchen)
I liked this humidifier when I first bought it. It worked great and it was quiet. It's still quiet but it's not producing any mist. Sometimes when I shake it it will start up again, but by the morning it's not working anymore and it leaks all over the floor. So after kicking several times tonight, I've decided that it's going in the trash.

3.0 out of 5 stars Both of mine work OK..., February 8, 2007

I bought one of these from Target in November, and have had zero problems with it. I bought a second one from Amazon in late December and the only problem that I have had with it is that you sometimes have to push down and wiggle the water tank to get the mist started. Other than that, I would say that this is a fine product.

The light is great for a child's room, but a bit too bright for an adult's room.

The "visible mist" can make the carpet wet if the unit is run on the floor, rather than an elevated location like a nightstand (the unit is small enough for a bedside table, and I have not had any problems with it when placed there).

I only use filtered water, so I have no need for the demineralization cartridge, and also do not get any white dust.

It is very quiet. The gurgling that some customers complain about is minimal due to the small tank capacity (I also have a 5 gallon tank humidifier with an extremely noisy fan which makes loud gurgling noises all night long).

It is also very easy to keep clean: I empty the tank every morning and let it air dry, and wipe down the base with a dry paper towel. No slimy build-up, no filters to replace.

For the price, I think this is a decent humidifier.

This is the single worst consumer item I have ever purchased. It worked for about 1 month, and then crapped out. No more mists.

Try to get some support on it--fuhgettaboutit.

You don't have to use the cartridge if you choose to use distilled water (I know that's a lot of distilled water if you use it every night.)
It does give off a blue glow, but has not been that disturbing. It does make a little bit of a gurgling noise. It sometimes just sounds like rainfall or a fountain.
My only negative is that the tank is not big enough. I fill it one night and it looks like it doesn't use much. The next night I don't fill it and it runs out before morning.
Overal it is the best humidifier I have owned. This was purchase #4.

1.0 out of 5 stars Garbage, January 17, 2007
This review is from: Honeywell HUT102 Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier Tower (Kitchen)
i just want to second reviewers that say this doesn't work. I got it out of the box. Followed instructions. It created mist from the bottom of the unit (not on top where it's supposed to). A few minutes later it started leaking. It's not quiet either (constant gurgling water). And it's too bright for a bedroom. I'm trying hard but I can't find anything positive to say. I returned it the same day I bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well, but has bright light, December 9, 2006

I've had this humidifier for a couple months now and have run it almost every night. It runs through two nights per filling and has worked like a champ. The one drawback on this unit is the bright blue glow that comes from it. It's not quite bright enough to read by, but I certainly don't have to worry about bumping the corner of my dresser or stubbing my toe in the middle of the night. I ended up putting some electrical tape over the bulb to tone the glow down a bit.

For the money, I'm very happy with this unit.

I guess I bought a good one. This thing works great, no leaks, no white dust, and very quiet.

The de-mineralization filters are easy to find at Target, and are $5 for two filters.

I like this product.
