I've been through a lot of humidifiers over the last five years - 2 cool mist, and probably half a dozen warm mist models. I have two of these Honeywells because I was so pleased when I got the first one that I got a second one a few weeks later. First the good news: they work very well. This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
I bought this product because of the brand name, the reasonable price, and the overall positive customer reviews. So far I've been very pleased. Except for the glug of the water going into the tray, the humidifier is extremely quiet. At least once I've forgotten it was even on. Unlike most people on here, my sinus problems arise in the spring and summer. I've found it to work satisfactorily when the air conditioner, fan, or window is open. Obviously it isn't as effective as when the windows are closed and the fan/AC isn't on.

I pretty much only use the humidifier at night and on the settings I generally use it goes through about 75-80% of a full container of water. It takes but a few minutes to refill and I do it before I go to bed at night. The cleaning also doesn't take very long even in a household with hard water. The pamphlet suggests a 20 minute soak in a vinegar/water solution. While it was soaking I spray CLR onto the "heating element" and used a toothbrush to scrub. I've also soaked it in a solution of CLR and water or used some of the vinegar/water solution. You may need a little bit of elbow grease, but by the time I was done the 20 minutes was about up. Minimal wiping was needed for the tray. I too am busy, but I was easily able to find 20 minutes to clean the humidifier.

The pamphlet also suggests sitting the machine on a tray or something similar, however I have mine sitting right on the carpet next to my bed. I've experienced no leaking or spills whatsoever.

I do agree that something beyond little dewdrops for the humidity control would be helpful, but I've set mine in the middle and have found that be just fine in either the high or low setting. I suppose it could be problematic if someone is running the machine 24/7 or needs a room to be at a specific humidity level, however that is not an issue in my case. Also, because I only run the machine at night and it's not cranked all the way up, I have not had any experience with the automatic shutoff.

I do agree that the machine itself does not seem to be made of particularly durable plastic and the vent doesn't seem to fit quite right. I expected the parts to lock into place better, but I have not experienced any problems as a result. If you plan to set the machine on the floor I would however be sure it won't be in an area where it risks getting bumped.

My only concern is the electricity usage. It doesn't mention it anywhere on the packaging or in the pamphlet. Two reviews mention it running in excess of 300 watts. Obviously I prefer to keep my electric bill as low as possible and with the added costs of running the AC or fan during the summer, I am concerned about the additional cost of running the humidifier.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps things humid, all right..., December 20, 2000
This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
We use this humidifier in our bedroom, and have been pleased with it so far. On low speed, we have to fill it every 2 nights, and on high speed, every night. Since it essentially boils the water and eject hot steam into the room, there's a lot of scaling and buildup in the base over time (probably depends on the purity of the water you put in it), which cleans up fairly well using vinegar. The only thing that's not quite right is the vent at the top - it contracted due to the heat and no longer swivels correctly in its base. Other than that, it's still doing a great job after about a year!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quiet and maintence free, January 7, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
I've tried 4 different types and brands of room humidifiers and the Honeywell HWM2030 is by far the best. Because it is a warm mist humidifier it does not require filter replacement, which is a hassle and an expense. Its 3 gallon capacity means that it really can do the job when it gets dry -- at 15 degrees outside/71 inside temperature, it needs to be filled once in the morning and again at night. Six gallons of water into the air keeps our large living room/music room at the humidity I want. And it is a lot quieter than the Duracraft hot air humidifier that I'm going to replace.

I've been through a lot of humidifiers over the last five years - 2 cool mist, and probably half a dozen warm mist models. I have two of these Honeywells because I was so pleased when I got the first one that I got a second one a few weeks later. First the good news: they work very well. On the high setting they pump out about 2 gallons over a 12 hour period, and they're very quiet. They're also very easy to refill and clean. One thing that makes maintenance easier with warm mist humidifiers is to not let them run dry. This keeps deposits from forming on the heating element; you'll need to change the water in the tray every once in a while though, as the water in the tray will get harder each time you run through a another tank of water.

Now the bad news: after about a year of use one of my units stopped working. The refill light came on and refused to reset. A few months later the second unit failed with the exact same problem. I tore down the second unit and managed to get the refill light reset, but the unit still wouldn't work. So these humidifiers are great while they work, but I'd rather not have to buy a new one every year or two.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoying my honeywell immensely, January 29, 2003

This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
From the rating I've given this humidifer you can tell I like it an awful lot... Here are my reasons why:
1. No filter - Who wants to go out and buy humidifier filters if you don't have to?
2. Ease of cleaning - I live in an area with hard water and so crud definitely does build up on my heating element which does ... but all you really need is a little bit of patience and a little bit of a calcium/lime/rust cleaner and the crud should dissolve away (just be sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards... who wants to breathe in those chemicals anywa?)... also there's a plastic pan that also becomes discolored but that's easy to clean too - just a little vinegar and you're good to go.
3. Runs quietly... Like everyone else has said just a glug here and a glug there every now and then... if it weren't for the occasional glugs i wouldn't even know it's on...
4. Does a great job of keeping my room humidified... I keep it on high all night long and I can sleep comfortably at night and not have to worry about sinus infections or about waking up with a headache...
Ok, and admittedly there is one thing I don't like about this humidifier - the start/power button - when I first got this humidifier I couldn't tell if it had clicked on or not and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on... Now I can tell when I've clicked it on, but it's the sort of thing that you get a feel for the more you use it... And once it's on, you're awfully glad it's on...
I think the things that I like about this humidifier outweigh the one thing that I don't like about it... Of all of the humidifiers that I've ever owned this one is the best one so far...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Can Finally Sleep Well, November 13, 2002
By
This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
Due to my job I just relocated my family to Colorado Springs. As soon as the cold weather started moving in around late October, I started to suffer miserably with severe sinus headaches, dry throat and other ailments, while my wife was suffering from dried nose bleeds in the morning. Upon reading some reviews for humidifiers on this site, I initially purchased two Holmes humidifiers, one for the master bedroom where my wife and I sleep, and one for my toddlers's room. After the first night using these I had to return both of them because they were so noisy (even at the lowest setting) that we couldn't sleep. The only way to actually lower the noise level is by turning it off all together. Upon reading more reviews I decided to give Honeywell a try. I decided to buy just one to be cautious. Amazingly, this brand was so quiet that both my wife and I were able to sleep with the machine's High setting. With the machine's Low setting, you practically hear nothing!! I was so impressed by this machine that I immediately purchased another one for my children's room. With no filter to mess with, this is perfect for my family needs. One thing you do need to be aware is that, if you do set the machine at High before sleep, you will run out of water before the daylight. But then the machine automatically shuts off so this is not a problem for me at all. I'm going to try it's low setting and see how it works tonight. While other brands come with a 3 year warranty or less, this one comes with a 5 year warranty.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great deal...., February 12, 2003

This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
I had a cool mist humidifier that was loud and very high maintence. It had a filter that cost as much as the unit itself. I started reviewing humidifiers on the net and found that the warm air ones were a better deal. The thing that I was most impressed about the Honeywell, was the fact it did not have a filter to replace, cleaning was very simple, and the large water storage tank. I have had the Honeywell now for about two weeks and love it. It is very quiet even on the high setting. High setting does however use more water, but low will go at least 12 hours with continuous running. When the humidifier reaches the set humidity level, it will shut off and come back on when the level drops again. The unit will also shut off when it runs out of water. I am looking at buying another Honeywell for another room.

I researched several humidifiers and read countless customer reviews, before deciding to purchase this model. The primary reason for this purchase was to use it in our daughter's room whenever she gets a cold/flu. We were impressed the first time we used it. It's easy to setup, large capacity tank, extremely quiet even on high speed, and can easily saturate a room to the desired humidity quickly. Our daughter, who's five, loved the fact that she could breathe easier and didn't cough at all with the humidifier running. We're now going to get one for ourselves too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Humidifier, January 22, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
This is my first humidifier, because I've never lived in a cold climate before. Because of the dry air, I have it on 24 hours per day. One tank takes 12 hours to empty on high and on the highest humidity setting. I sleep with it on my side of the bed and don't even hear it. It bubbles and gurgles a little, but it's very quiet.
I have not had to clean it yet, but I checked it out before I filled it, and it looks very simple. I am very happy with this unit's performance. I read many reviews of many different humidifiers, so I was very skeptical. The Honeywell does what it says.

5.0 out of 5 stars The only humidifier to buy, November 22, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Honeywell HWM2030 3-Gallon Warm Moisture Humidifier (Kitchen)
I searched high and low for a decent humidifier...they were all too loud, too expensive, and too unreliable. I read virtually every review online, and couldn't find one that was very enthusiastic. I had a Honeywell Cool Mist humidifier, which was a complete waste. It uses filters like mad (and if you don't change them often you just end up spewing mold all over), is noisy, and barely made the room more humid. Stay away from cool humidifiers.

THIS humidifier is a pleasure. It is virtually silent (I use it in my bedroom, where a newborn sleeps), doesn't empty too quickly, starts up fast, and doesn't cost a lot. It is probably the best on the market (and I've looked at them all!). The only problem is finding one in stock. They are sold out everywhere. If Amazon has this when you read this, snatch it up!
