This Honeywell Portable Air conditioner had exceeded my expectations. When I was looking to buy a new portable air conditioner I did a lot of research to find a good one. I couldn't find very much information on Honeywell Portable air conditioners but I knew that Honeywell has a good reputation in other categories of appliances. I decided to go for this Honeywell portable air conditioner and I am so glad that I did! It worked really well throughout the entire summer. We had some really hot days and this air conditioner always provided releif and the portability is really convenient. The other nice feature is that when the unit is not being used you can take the exhaust pipe out of the window for when its cold out, or for security so that you can lock your window. The performance of this unit was really above my expectations. It cooled our Kitchen, Livingroom, Dining Room and a large hallway! It also looks much sleeker than other units, and it's quieter than our previous unit. I would recommend this unit for anyone in the market for a portable air conditioner.

Fast easy setup for IQ over 60; doesn't make too much noise, unless you're used to living in the forest atop a great mountain in eternal winter; blows cold air forcefully; keeps my 450 sq ft, 11 ft ceiling Brooklyn studio at 72-74 in 90 degree heat. Looks great, seals the deal on all my dates, getting engaged as a result of this unit. Buy it, stick the hose in the window, plug it in, turn it on, and recreate the Little Ice Age while you await armageddon.

For the life of me, I can't understand all the bad reviews on this air conditioner. Does not blow cold air? Does not cool the room? Too loud?? All I can figure is that these users did not adjust the settings and/or venting correctly (fan mode vs cooling mode; temperature set too high; venting blocked). So far, my experience with this product has been excellent. It definitely blows cold air; it definitely cools the room I bought it for; and even on the highest speed, it is no louder than a fan (in fact, it is quieter than one of my fans). Not having to regularly empty a condensation bucket/tray is also a HUGE plus! I highly recommend this product.

The Honeywell MN12CES 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control can be used as an air conditioner, fan, or dehumidifier. You have a choice of three speeds for the fan: high, medium, and low. When using the air conditioner you can set the temperature from 61° to 89°. The unit comes with a timer so you can set the unit to come on when you want it to. You can also set how many hours you want the unit to run.

While I've been happy with my tower fan it has been such a brutally hot summer that, after some problems trying to install a window air-conditioner, I got the Honeywell MN12CES 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control. So far I've been pretty happy with it. It is very heavy (I think my mailman hates me!) but once in place it was very easy to install. You do want to make sure you have tape to secure the edges of the window bracket (more to keep bugs out than anything else). I like the flexibility of being able to take the air conditioner out of the window when the weather is cooler and the ability to move it from room to room. While it doesn't do quite as good a job of cooling as a window air conditioner (when using it in my bedroom I turn it on at least an hour before going to bed and make sure the windows and doors are closed) it does a decent enough job - there have been a few hot summer nights when I've actually had to pull up my covers while using it. The instruction manual says you may have to drain water from the unit in high humidity areas but I've had no issues with that which is a pleasant surprise.

I really like the Honeywell MN12CES 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner with Remote Control.

Comes with:

Cooling Unit
Window Bracket Kit
Window Bracket Panel Adapter
Plastic Pin (two pieces)
Hose Connector
Plastic hose

Great little unit. I live in a large studio in NYC (600sq) with 1 built in AC unit that wasn't doing the job. On 95 degree days the apt was cooling to about 84. This sly little guy/girl was 20% off at best buy so it only cost me $400. It was easy to set up and brought my apt from 84 degrees to about 69. Basically the thing is a mini messiah. The only negatives I can think of are you will need to reinforce the bracket they give you to make an air tight seal with the window. This is easily done with duct tape. Also it has wheels which is nice but if you move it around aggressively the house will come loose which is kind of annoying. The BEST part about this thing is the timer. Instead of running my wall AC all day just to have a cool apt when I get home from work, I set this thing on a timer to turn on about 3 hours before I get home. Saved me its value in utilities already. (it is also 85 pounds)

I don't know why anyone with a regular up-down sash window would get one of these. A window unit will cool better and is easier to install. I put this in a house with crank windows only so I have no choice. I used a hole saw to cut a 5" hole through the wall, installed a dryer vent kit and hooked the output tube of this unit to it. Works great. It easily cools the entire downstairs on my house, about 1500 sq ft, even on 90+ days. The output tube flow a great deal of air, far, far more than a dryer does. It easily handles the condensate that is placed into the air flow. No leaks or accumulation anywhere. Quieter than I thought, it hums away in the corner and I can talk over it. Quieter than any window unit I have ever owned. Remote is a bit awkward. You have to hit a button a couple times to get it to recognize the remote each time, but it works. Overall very good, would buy another.
