My furnace was turning the main burners of and on continuously. In my effort to debug the problem I suspected the controller. This new one is an upgrade to my old controller because it has diagnostic lights to let you know if there is a problem. Here is the trick. If I followed the wiring diagram as suggested in the manual, the controller did not work at all. I went on line and found someone who had the same problem. Instead of connecting the 24 volt line to the 24volt tab, it needed to be connected to the TH-W tab. The manual does not specify this, so only try this trick if it doesn't work for you right out of the box. It has now been operating for the last two months without issues. I expect it to work for the next several years.

(This Unit was Purchased to replace a Honeywell S8600H1006 Control Model in a Williamson Propane Furnace and the review should be based on that Information)

Several weeks ago our Furnace (a Frankenstein Williamson Propane Furnace with a Coleman A/C Retrofit) began experiencing a number of start-up issues where the pilot light would light followed by the burner igniting and shutting off shortly after, or a short-cycle (where the furnace would operate for a few minutes, shut off, then try again after 10 minutes or so) or go through a warm-up cycle followed by a shut-off when the blower came on. Killing Power to the system for about 30-60 minutes would usually make things behave for a few days before the problems would arise again.

Since our current plan is to go to a new Geothermal System in the next 20 months or so I wanted the keep the repair low-cost if possible and given the age and set up of the current system I knew the likelihood of finding an exact part-replacement was not likely so I was pleasantly surprised to see this unit and the positive feedback; I ordered this along with a Q345A1313 Honeywell Pilot Burner. While I did not believe the Pilot Burner/Sensor was the source of the problem, I also did not want to have the Furnace partially disassembled and find out it too needed to be replaced. The S8600U3009 shipped promptly from Patriot Supply and I had it in my Mailbox within in 5 business days from day-of-order.

One thing I want to emphasize here for anyone reading this. YOU ARE MESSING AROUND WITH A MACHINE THAT MANAGES A HIGHLY COMBUSTABLE GAS. IF YOU ARE EVEN IN THE SLIGHTEST WAY AMBIVALENT OR UNSKILLED IN PERFORMING THIS KIND OF WORK HIRE A PROFESSIONAL WHO KNOWS THAT THE H#@! THEY ARE DOING.

The furnace would only light the pilot and not the main burner. The part was shipped within a couple of hours of ordering it. I had the same problem as an earlier review "Instead of connecting the 24 volt line to the 24volt tab, it needed to be connected to the TH-W tab". I tried that and it works perfect.

Replaced my old Johnson Controls unit with this one. The instructions seem a little daunting at first, but if you take your time and study them you can easily figure out how to make all the proper connections if you have some basic wiring knowledge. The old spark wire on my Johnson Controls unit just pulls right out. It was pushed onto a little spike. Honeywell gives you a new connector to use with the old spark wire to plug into the new unit. This aspect was not explained in the instructions and puzzled me a little bit. I hope it helps someone. All the other wires are easy, you have the pilot wire, main burner wire, pilot and burner common wire, 24 volt in which does not plug into the 24 v plug but the Th-W be careful on that one, burner ground and 24 v ground.thats it!

This was a perfect replacement for my Honeywell S86E. Very impressive extra parts and adapters included in the box. I paid attention to other reviews and timing settings for its replacement. Out of the box it had all of the correct settings in place. I just turned off the power, switched out the wires one by one, turned the furnace back on and wonderful heat again. I have had it 3 months now and it works perfectly. I saved a lot of money doing this myself. You can do it!

This unit was a replacement for the replacement for the Honeywell unit in my 30 year old furnace. It installed easily and it works fine.

People should be very careful when buying a used unit. The manual says the module will work with and without damper control. But if a damper control is attached to the unit, after a few heating cycles the unit will no longer work without it. Also there are two DIP switches on the units. They are set differently depending on the unit being replaced. However after a few heating cycles the unit stores those setting and no longer uses the DIP setting. This could be a problem trying to use a used module. The manual does not say if these setting can be restored

Thanks to Dyno. I had to use the TH-W tab as well for the 24 volt input. But the manual with my unit said that if the was no damper control then 24 volt line should be connected to that TH-W tab. (it sure was nice to have two sources of this information)
