Great weather station,
This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
I purchased this item with a little sceptisism after reading a lot of reviews of other brand stations having issues with signal loss through walls to base station etc.I turned on the unit followed instructions. The wind gauge is about 30 feet up 20 feet from house the uv sensor is mounted 10 feet up as well as rain gauge. All sensors Detect and transmit flawlessly.I really like the product and I am impressed with the quality. All the outside sensors have o ring seals and have a tight fit to prevent moisture.I installed energizer lithium batteries for maximum temp range as specified in manual.Instruction manual states the outside sensors last apprx 2 years on one set of good batteries not bad.

An OK weather station,

Pros
- wireless link provides ultimate convenience for installing the measurement devices - robust set of measurements are provided Cons - Anemometer was installed 35' from a window where that base station is and repeatedly lost wireless synch; it's now 15' away and is working better - wanted to post readings to a website automatically but the usb connection causes the wind readings to stop; have asked support to help several weeks back but received NO response - This is NOT a Honeywell unit; it is a Japanese company who has licensed the Honeywell name -- so don't expect Honeywell quality and accuracy

Excellent Weather Station Hardware,
This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
I bought this weather station after a great deal of research. I am particularly impressed by how substantial the components are. Also, I was concerned about clear reception from the remote sensors to the base station because I live in Germany. Germans build houses with very thick walls, but my base receives the sensor signals through these walls. It was esay to setup, but one must carefully follow the directions to set up all sensors before turning on the base station and use lithium batteries for strong signals.
A very very good buy.

Good choice,

I purchased this weather station for my father as a gift. Having never set one up before, he did run into a little difficulty with the monitor settings. The customer service center listed in the back of the manual offered excellent and immediate assistance. It only took a few minutes to work through the problem. He is really enjoying it. Both he and myself would recommend this model.

Poor software, poor manual, inaccurate sensors,
This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
The "Weather Capture" software that came with the unit is version 1.2 nad has very limited capability written by an appearant novice software engineer. The Honeywell web site has a link to get the upgraded software (version 3.1) but clicking on this link gives error 404 (file not found). Very sad.... Also, the software screen shot shown on the TE923W box is totally different than what you get on the included CD (maybe they are showing version 3.1 which you can't get from their web site).
The manaul has been converted to English from some other language and was done very poorly. Quite often it is difficult to determine what the manual is instructing you to do. The temperature sensors seem to be fairly accurate (compaired to other digital thermometers I have). The humidity sensors seems to be reading 10%-15% lower than what gets reported by local radio and TV stations just a few miles away. The local barometric pressure reading is always 1-2 inHg low. At high noon on a cloudless day in late July the UV sensore is reading "medium". Not sure how the actual UV exposure could get any higher but the sensor only indicates "medium" all day. I've downloaded several software programs for use with weather stations and haven't been able to get any of them to work with the Honeywell TE923W. This does not seem to be a well supported unit. When registering this product on-line or asking for techical support you complete an on-line form and it is then sent to the company as an email attachemnt. My Internet Service Provider (MSN) detects a virus with the email attachemnt and won't allow it to be sent. I can not recommend this unit.

I purchased the Honeywell TE-923W, the software that come with it does not work on windows Vista. Also the unit keep losing its signal from the remote sensors. The remotes are less than 20 ft from the main unit. This is my second Honeywell. I have first purchased TE821 and it did not hold its signal either. I should have bought a Davis weather station. All my friends have Davis and have no problems with them at all. With a name like Honeywell, I thought this would be a great unit. I was wrong.I'm very unhappy with the Honeywell TE-923W.
I hope this will help you out in your choice. Thanks, Don

TE923W Christmas review,
By
This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
I received the Honeywell TE923W from my son for Christmas 2007. The manual is very poorly written and little help for problems. I have found that the outdoor sensors don't give the range specified - even with new lithium batteries. The main unit is very sensitve to placement and orientaion in the house. The UV sensor had to be moved twice, always closer, before it would be read reliably by main unit. The wind speed and direction sensor appear to work fine, 20 feet up and 5 feet horizontal from main unit. The rain gauge has worked so far as reception, but with the temperatures near freezing or below has very little actual testing results. The outdoor temp/hum gauge doesn't work reliably on the transmission side. It is within 12 feet of the main unit and I cann see it outside the window while at the main unit - true line-of-sight. I don't know if it is the sensor or the main unit. The display for this sesnor is off-line more than it is on. The atomic clock issues agree with another reviewer. I also have numerous atomic clocks in my house that work fine anywhere. The TE923W unit is very weak in picking up the time signal. I registered my unit and I have twice contacted customer service about the big, big differences in advertised range versus actual and the bad temperature unit. No response now to either email. The 1.2 software with the unit is very poor and looks like someone very inexperienced first attempt at writing software. I did update to the 1.4 software and it is even worse than 1.2 so I don't know what improvements were made. The data is missing almost always on the first attempt to look at the graphs. The data will finally show up after the third, fourth, etc. attempt. The scaling is so bad that when the graphs that do show data, it is often plotted off the grid and down in the text part of the screen. This software is definitely not what is shown on the outside of the box it comes in. The PC software should allow setting up the unit through the USB cable instead of having to use the remote control. I think the weather station has potential, but wasn't ready for prime time. I was disappointed to find that the Honeywell name was on a device made by another company, but did not carry the expected Honeywell quality. One more note is that they recommend keeping the main unit away from other electronic devices that may interfere with radio reception (including computers) and supply a USB cable for computer connection. I am still hoping to have some of the good experiences from other reviewers.

TE923W Not Accurate,
By Tech Toys (Il, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
I bought the TE923W 'Advanced' weather station in May 2007 & spent 8 months trying to get it to work properly without success. The company (actually made by Hideki) sent me a succession of components to try in the place of those that didn't work properly but none were any better that the originals. I went thru 4 Wind Speed indicators that were consistently 50-60% low, 2 Rain guages that were about 40% low & 3 base units that were OK but weren't getting correct information from the sensors. The UV indicator was likely low too as it never showed more than 1/3 of it's range even at noon on a sunny day. I didn't have another UV indicator to compare against this, but did have other wind speed & rain guages. Apart from these inaccuracies, there is no way to get a total rain amount after a week has elapsed. This information disappears & is not available until the 1st day of the next month when you get last month's total! It uses a total of 14 batteries & a wall wart which isn't exactly economical & the illuminated display is difficult to read except at just the right angle. If you want an atomic clock & reasonably accurate temperature & humidity readings, you can buy a unit for about $30 instead of the $300 I paid. After 8 months of this screwing around, Hideki kindly offered to buy this so called 'Advanced' weather station back for 50% of what I paid for it. I hope this information keeps someone else from wasting their money on this as I did.

Excellent craftsmanship, attention to detail, does exactly what it says it does! Easy setup of the sensors, wireless range is really incredible, 4 stories below in a concrete building and works great!

Costly Mistake,

This review is from: Honeywell TE923W Deluxe Weather Station with Rain Gauge, Barometer, Thermometer, Wind Data (Kitchen)
I got this station as a Christmas present, very impressive product until the rain sensor went out less than 2 months. Honeywell replaced free of charge. Always been skeptical about the wind sensor didn't seem accurate. Almost a year, rain sensor out again. Honeywell replaced again free of charge but this one won't even register on the screen did everything the Honeywell techs told me to do nothing works. Now,on top of that the wind sensor is out, tried everything, Honeywell will not replace it is a little over a year and the warranty is out. All I have now is a very expensive thermometer.
