5.0 out of 5 stars Good product, January 2, 2009
This review is from: Honeywell 5804 Wireless 'KeyFob' Remote Control (Electronics)
Makes it easy to arm and disarm the Honeywell (also called ADEMCO, I don't know why) security system. As simple as using the keyless entry on a car. They have a nicer, and more expensive, unit that talks. It confirms that your system is armed, but we didn't have a need for that functionality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vesitile remote for ademco alarms and switches, January 14, 2011

This review is from: Honeywell 5804 Wireless 'KeyFob' Remote Control (Electronics)
These remotes are serialized with unique serial numbers on each of the 4 buttons - this prevents copying of the keyfob. It comes with adhesive stickers to customize it or you can use the default factory labels. Ademco also makes a 12V switch that stands alone and works with one button you choose on the keyfob - you must enroll the serial number of the keyfob buttons you want to use into the switch but it has relay outputs for activating gates, garage door openers, or other purposes.

It can simultaneously be used as a remote for your home alarm system and your gates or garage door opener. I like it because I can open my gate with my key ring when I am outside walking my dog - it normally opens with a garage door opener but if I am not in my car I can use a spare button on the keyfob to open it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Requires professional installation, April 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Honeywell 5804 Wireless 'KeyFob' Remote Control (Electronics)
We purchased this for our nanny, thinking that we could easily add it on to our alarm system -- the way you can easily buy a new garage door remote and add it on to your garage door opener. However, we were completely unsuccessful at our attempts to program this alarm remote on our own (and my husband is pretty computer-savvy) and in fact, somehow ended up de-programming our entire alarm system. Ultimately, we had to call our alarm company to come fix our system and add on the remote. I know we did pay less for the remote itself on Amazon though than our alarm company would have charged us, so it was perhaps a little money-saving but overall a major headache!

5.0 out of 5 stars cheaper than an ADT service call, November 20, 2011

Worked as expected. This was a replacement Keyfob for one stolen from wife's car. This worked on my ADT Safewatch Pro 3000, similar/same as Vista 20. As long as you have info written on your alarm system for zones etc, and an installation manual for system it's pretty straightforward.
NOTE: Don't expect that you will be able to install keyfob with installation guide sent. You MUST have your alarm installation manual or know-how.. I found mine by googling the model name and "installation manual" and trolling alarm do it yourself websites.
Please no 1 star reviews because you can't figure it out.
Also, ADT wanted ~95-100 to install and supply a new keyfob (that was with a discount!). A lot of money, but if you only need one and don't want your eyes to glaze over reading the manual it might be worth it. I needed 2 plus wanted experience to eventually cut the tether with ADT so it was definitely worth it.

Works perfectly from a distance. No wiggly motions needed to get the signal to reach the base.
