5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, November 16, 2009

This review is from: H Is for Hong Kong: A Primer in Pictures (Alphabetical World) (Hardcover)
Being the artist's brother, I may be a bit biased. But I've found it to be excellent with children around 5 years old. Parents can enjoy the beautiful pictures (created by an unusual process called cyanotype) that are something in between photos and paintings while children enjoy entering into a vibrant city with their imaginations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hong Kong--An Alphabetical View, January 15, 2011
This review is from: H Is for Hong Kong: A Primer in Pictures (Alphabetical World) (Hardcover)
Hong Kong is as dizzying as it is delightful but when I first went there, I had an underpinning for what whirled around me in that city. I had already perused H is for Hong Kong.

Its mysterious blue images were already imprinted in my imagination and as I roamed about, they explained much of what I saw. Elizabeth Briel is a noted photographer who has lived in Hong Kong and knows it well; her view of this place helped to inform my own.

Since then I have given this book to several children and have been thrilled with the way that they fall into the pictures, immersed in the magic of what they see. H is for Hong Kong expands imaginations and world views for all ages, through its haunting images and sparkling, bilingual text.
