From the Back Cover

This little book of essential flag facts answers the question many Americans have about the proper care, treatment, and customs of America's most significant symbol.Recent attacks on American soil have led to a surge in displaying the American flag. Yet this patriotic presentation is often accompanied by some basic questions - how should I hang the flag in a window? When should it fly at half-mast? Should I bring the flag in at night? These and many other questions are answered within the pages of this little book, in simple, straightforward words and pictures. (4 1/4 z 5 1/4, 64 pages, color interior)

4.0 out of 5 stars Long May She Wave December 14, 2003
From the care of your flag to when and how one should display it, this small volume has many details of interest about Old Glory.
Especially edifying is the small section on "Can I wear the flag ?" as I find the flag being used very loosely and inappropriately in recent years as a part of clothing and footwear designs, and this little book gives the guidelines.
It also has the history of "The Star Spangled Banner", "The Pledge of Allegiance", and the flag's colors.
Very interesting are the 22 illustrated pages on "The Evolution of the American Flag", including the Washington Flag, which has the six-pointed stars that were George Washington's preferrence, to the 50 star flag in use today.
There are two errors on page 32, concerning Memorial Day, confusing it with Armistice Day and saying it was "for the day the treaty that ended WWII was signed".
Memorial Day (honoring those who died in service) evolved from Decoration Day, which had its origins in the Civil War, and Veteran's Day (honoring those who served and died for the country) evolved from Armistice Day commemorating the end of WWI; otherwise this is an instructive little book, and as an artist who often places a flag in my pictures, it has been useful, and should be helpful to the many artisans and craftspeople who use the flag as a decorative emblem in making sure it is always done in a respectful manner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Old Glory!!! July 2, 2002
This nifty little book covers the history of our Nation's flag and the various rules governing its care and display. One glaring error on page 32 states that Memorial Day arose from Armistice Day. Other than that, it is a fine book for those who love the flag.
