5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait...
Blend the best elements of IVth Crusade and For Victory and you get Honour, Valour, and Pride. Bolt Thrower finally resurface 4 years after their last album, apparently and hopefully past all their line up difficulties. Dave Ingram, formerly of Benediction, takes up the front man duties quite well. His deeper more powerful voice brings out a fiercer quality from the rest...

1.0 out of 5 stars I WISH KARL WILLETS WAS HERE
This is by far the worst Bolt Thrower CD. Karl Willets would be hanging his head down in shame if he heard this. Karl ruled on vocals and the new vocalist doesn't make this seem like a Bolt Thrower release. The songs seemed liked they were thrown together and the structure of songwriting is lacking, plus without Andy on drums I find this release boring and there is so many...

His deeper more powerful voice brings out a fiercer quality from the rest of the band as they're forced to keep up with the tone. New drummer Martin Kearns fits right in with the veteran band as well.

This album is mid-tempo which is where Bolt Thrower is at their best. Each song is heavy as hell with some really catchy riffs throughout. Contact-Wait Out will literally call to mind what a tank sounds like crossing a battlefield. They've taken guitar layering to a new level for this genre of music and it's definately a must have for any fan of extreme heavy metal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not groundbreaking, but still crushingly heavy, February 20, 2003
This review is from: Honour Valour Pride (Audio CD)
I was about to walk away from a store with a Jazz cd, but I decided to wander over to the Metal section. Finding a new Bolt Thrower album proved too tempting, and I changed my mind. With BT, I have not escaped the "first-listen" syndrome (the notion that whatever album you listen to first, remains your favorite). I still think "The IVth Crusade" is their best, but this one shows they still got it. This band has for the most part stuck with a certain style of which they are the absolute masters. Grinding, churning, groove-heavy with ominous, menacing melodies. The new vocalist definitely adds to the menacing factor - his delivery is a lot raspier and growling than Karl's. The mere fact that BT is still around making music of this caliber, showing an unrelenting adherence to their convictions is worthy of praise and respect. Long live Bolt Thrower!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unappreciated; the b*tching needs to stop, February 3, 2007

Ok, so I have to give it to Bolt Thrower, they lost a great death metal vocalist. But I think the negative reputation this album gets is unjustified. Ingram is great at short bursts of death grunts, and hes good live as well. People, you need to understand that vocalist changes are the worst, and sometimes could completely destroy a bands reputation (see Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, Anthrax, Iced Earth), and its amazing that they stuck together.

But onto the album, this is in the same vein as Mercenary and ...For Victory; i.e pounding double bass drums, lyrics about war and honor, and heavy, thick riffs. Definately a good album, but fans new to Bolt Thrower should check out Warmaster or Realm of Chaos first.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bolt Thrower keeps it coming, April 29, 2003

Bolt Thrower has been my favorite band for years, and they certainly haven't disappointed me with this release. The music has a perfect balance of heavy, skull-pounding metal and growling vocals, with enough melodic variety to keep it from becoming monotonous. The band continues its war theme with some great lyrics to boot. This is a more complex CD than "Mercenary", but "...For Victory" remains my favorite. If you like extreme, fast, and heavy metal, Bolt Thrower is the right choice. Check out Krisiun's "Conquerors of Armageddon" as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Blast from the past, August 3, 2011
This review is from: Honour Valour Pride (Audio CD)
Great album! A real return to Bolt Thrower form and their best since IVth Crusade. Classic BT grind: slow & heavy with those underlying ethereal melodies. This was the first BT album I've bought since IVth when it came out and have enjoyed banging to some good ol' BT tunes. All the fave elements are there - thuda-thuda double kick, guitars tuned so low they can barely be played, and Dave Ingram (ex Benediction) doing a very respectable job on vocals sans Karl. Not an adventurous, break-new-ground outing to be sure, but that's not what I was after anyway, and I have been very far from disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars still a killer release, August 22, 2008

Although I liked the previous vocalist for the band more, this is a great album still. The songs keep up with the killer heavy bolt thrower sound. Take a listen for yourself. I'd recommend this right up there with mercenary.

Ingram takes the place of Willits on this CD, and does a pretty nice job filling his shoes...This CD takes a couple of listens to really enjoy it though...I think BT fans who havent experienced this CD will be impressed.ENJOY

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny, May 17, 2002
This review is from: Honour Valour Pride (Audio CD)
I had not even heard of Bolt Thrower before purchasing this album. I bought it on a whim. It has proven itself worth every penny. The songs on this album are guitar-driven with low, growling vocals. The theme of the album is war, and the guitars and vocals combine well to give a sense of the relentless, grinding, destructive force that is modern warfare. While all songs follow the same theme, they do so with enough originality between them to keep the album fresh throughout its duration. Just buy it and listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bolt Thrower back in war!!!!!!, February 3, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Honour Valour Pride (Audio CD)
Not mauch to tell about this album. It's a real blaster!!! From the lyrics to the rhythm section, all make a real Bolt Thrower album. and this means only one thing. True War Metal. They sing for war,for the honour, the valour, the pride of it. And as allways for the human stupidity that leads to it. But they do it perfectly and with such force that will make all metal funs kneel before them and pay attencion.
