UPDATE: My original HUB did have all the mentioned problems. Sunvalleytek's support is wonderful though, they contacted me, let me know this wasn't expected behavior and sent out a new one that they tested before shipping. The new one is functioning exactly as I would expect for a HUB. I have yet to see any of the aforementioned problems that were in the original product.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
While the HUB does seem like it wants to work, it has been unable to handle two or even three devices. I tried this with a USB 3.0 HDD and Blu-Ray Drive. When the second device is plugged in it'll sometimes flash and not register with the computer.

I've also noticed that things plugged in through this HUB have a chance to randomly lose their connection with the computer. This creates an issue where the PC still sees the device acting as if it's plugged in even after it's been removed from the HUB. When the device gets plugged in anywhere that isn't the HUB it seems to fix itself.

I've also noticed crashes while trying to wake my computer up while the HUB has been plugged in that don't occur when it's unplugged.

Overall it feels like I've bought a useless piece of junk. The first problem alone makes it useless as a HUB, since it can't handle multiple devices.

Even if your mouse, keyboard and other devices are wireless, you still need a USB port on your PC for each one. My Lenovo PC has two in the back and two in the front, capable of charging my New Release!RAVPower® 7800mAh with Built-in Flashlight Dynamo-On-the-Go RP-PB09 External Battery Pack Charger.Powered by Samsung Cells.Includes Free Wall Charger and Bonus Bag. 5V 3A Dual USB Output. Fit for Android & Apple Device, Smart Phones, Tablets..., my iPhone and two other devices, but only if I unplugged my keyboard and mouse satellite USB plugs. This USB Hub has four USB ports that can handle all the juice you need for each one. It only measures about 2" X 2" and when plugged in, gives a blue glow so you know its working. The Hub is connected to your computer (backside is best) with a USB data cable. Whenever you are using a port, a small lit number lights up on top of the Hub to show you it is working (individual indicator LEDs). The only thing that I found the Hub does not charge is my iPad mini.

The entire Hub is plug `n play - no drivers are needed. The transfer rate, even when all ports are used is 5Gbps. The Hub is designed to protect your devices in the case of a power surge. I read in the instructions that the Mac OS X might have issues with instability with this Hub and the 2012 Mac Mini and 2012 Mac Book Pro are not recommended due to unstable performance. Basically it provides four auxiliary USB ports for all other uses. It's a bargain for the price. This product was generously supplied by the manufacturer for an honest review.

This hub is quality built and works, but with an issue. It seems to draw excessive power from the computer. If I attempt to turn the computer on with the hub attached, the computer flashes error indicators and fail to power up. If I disconnect the HooToo hub, the computer powers up normally. After the computer has successully powered up, then the hub can be attached. The computer is not a lightweight, a Dell Precision T7400 with a 900W power supply. Somehow it is sensing the HooToo hub is consuming excessive power.

update as of 06/24/15:
While trying to plug in all the devices I used to have on this hub before it died I found that the USB3 hard drive I had on it no longer works. It just clicks. Not only did the factory AC adapter kill the hub but it took out a $110 2TB western digital passport drive and quite a bit of data to boot. Lowering the score to 1 star. For a hub with supposed over-voltage protection to fry devices plugged into it when using it's own adapter is just plain bad.

update as of 06/23/15:
I had been using this as an unpowered hub and it worked fine. However, I ran into an issue with too much power draw giving an out of resources error so I grabbed the power supply this comes with, plugged it in, and much to my surprise the hub died immediately. Removing the power supply does not fix it as it also no longer works as an unpowered hub. It lights up the one red light when put into a usb port without the power brick but the blue lights for USB devices do not work or light at random for ports regardless of anythign being plugged in. No actual devices get power or data. I am at just over a year, so out of the 12 month warranty. Updating the score from 5 stars to 2 stars. A hub that works great right up until you plug in the manufacturer supplied power brick is hard to recommend.

original review:
I highly recommend this hub. In the past, USB hubs have alway given me trouble and I grudgingly use them out of necessity. A port will die, devices will fail to work with them when they work plugged in solo, etc. This hub is the only one that has given me no issues at all after extended use. It also hasn't interfered with my wireless mouse the way some USB3 hubs and devices can. Get this hub when it is at a good price and you will be satisfied with it.
