Product Description

HT-UE01 Super-speed USB 3.0 Hub expands your existing USB port to 3 x USB 3.0 ports to allow more USB 3.0/2.0 peripherals to be attached. The hub also wired Ethernet capability by having RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port for standard network cable.

Super-speed Data Transfer
USB 3.0 provides 10 x faster transfer speed than USB 2.0, but their numbers are limited for each computer. The HT-UE01 saves your valuable USB 3.0 ports by consolidate 3 x USB 3.0 interfaces to one USB port. It is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 devices so you can add more devices to your computer or tablet.

Extra Gigabit Ethernet Port
Wireless connection unavailable? Speed too slow? No need to buy expensive moderns. Switch to wired LAN access and enjoy full speed internet using your USB port only. Plug in your network cable to HT-UE01 and it works exactly like an RJ45 port natively installed on your PC/Mac.

Specification
Port Type: 3 USB 3.0, 1 Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45 Female)
Ethernet Compatible: IEEE 802.3az, IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab
Ethernet Speed: Support up to 1000Mbps and downwards compatible with 10/100Mbps
Support Auto MDIX (automatic detection of standard or crossover network cable)
Safety: Built-in Short-Circuit protection
Cable Length: 1 ft

OS

So far, the replacement works perfect.

Works on Win 8.1/7 and Mac OS X. Win 7 and Mac OS X do need to install driver from CD, but an easy task.

I've tested both on linux and on OS X, and they both are great performers. Only complaint would be that the driver included for OS X was on a mini dvd. I've yet to see a mac that can read one of those. Ended up downloading it off their website. Linux 3.13 included the kernel mod, so no need to use theirs.

My new laptop (Dell XPS 12) does not come with an ethernet port and has only two USB ports. Some hotels have ethernet ports in the room but no wireless. This adapter provides three extra USB 3 ports for card reader, thumb drive, external HD etc. The ethernet port provides a (relatively) more secure connection via a hard wire.
This cost about $10 more than just a USB-Ethernet adapter and it is worth it.
My external slotted DVD drive cannot take the mini disk with the drivers which came with the unit. Download the driver (in RAR), unpacked it with 7-zip and then installation was straight forward. Works fine from then on.
This and a Targus retractable ethernet cable make a good combination.

Bought this for my Asus T100 tablet w/keyboard. Works both in the keyboard full size USB and in the micro USB port on the tablet. I just tried the Ethernet connection on my Dell Venue 8 Pro micro port and it works like a champ [1 gig speed]. one of the best accessories for windows 8 tablets.

This review is for the HT-UE01 3-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Gigabit Ethernet

I first saw this product on a review on the Windows Phone Central forum. It was being used with a Surface Pro 3 and that is what I am using it with.

The SP3 has only a single USB 3 port and no Ethernet port. When I'm working in my office I have the SP3 connected to a docking station so I have all the ports I need. I needed a hub like this to use when I travel. I wanted something small and lightweight so it would pack easily. 99% of the time, 3 USB ports is plenty. With an Ethernet port as a bonus, the HT-UE01 looked to be an ideal hub for me, and it is.

The overall length of the hub is about 17" with 13" of that being the integrated cable. I would have liked it better if the cable was detachable so it was replaceable and would make packing easier but I expect that would have added to the cost of manufacturing. The cable appears to be of a fairly heavy duty variety with nice a strain relief on each end. The hub part is about 4"x1-1/4"x3/4". Given the solid cable, about 5" is required to pack the hub in a bag without putting too much of a bend on the hub end. The three USB ports are well spaced. I can't image anything being large enough that it would block the next port.

Included in the box was a quick installation guide in multiple languages, mini-CD with drivers, warranty card, and a 'thank you for your purchase' card. I didn't read any of the printed material and my computer doesn't even have a CD drive but the CD wasn't needed. Shortly after ordering I received an email from the seller, Sunvalleytek, with a download link for the current driver.

I purchased this unit mostly to free up a Thunderbolt connector on my MacBook Pro. I need to connect two non-Apple displayport monitors when away from my primary location (Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock). In a prior review a user posted his iperf3 numbers and that was a large reason for me pulling the trigger on the purchase. Overall, the performance isn't hideous under real usage scenarios, but it is NOT as good as the Apple Thunderbolt -> Ethernet adaptor nor the Belkin Dock (also Thunderbolt).

An added benefit of the HooToo is that I can leave an (easy to lose) USB Wireless keyboard adaptor attached. (The Apple Bluetooth keyboards and I didn't get along.) I'd easily give this unit 5 stars ~if~ the driver install experience had been 100% flawless. At the moment that is the ONLY major issue I have noted. A minor performance difference isn't likely to be a problem.

Pros
- Leaves my precious Thunderbolt Port free.
- Inexpensive.
- Additional USB 3.0 ports if I need them.
- Reasonable performance (95% of Thunderbolt through put on my system).

Cons:
- Downloading and installing the drivers is a ~little~ of a pain.
- The install ~could~ be fractionally more Mac friendly, but anyone that is marginally tech savy won't have issues.

For the price and performance, I am actually going to be ordering another one after I post this review. I am currently hoping locations more than I would like and would prefer to take ONLY the MacBook Pro most of the time. For the price I don't mind leaving it around and it acts as storage for the easy to lose wireless keyboard adapter.
