Product Description

Hoodman continues to take advantage of their ability to build state of the art RAW CompactFlash cards. Hoodman RAW CompactFlash cards now use SSD flash inside. SSD (solid state drive) flash is designed to replace hard drives in computers. SSD flash is the most stable, reliable and expensive flash you can put in a CompactFlash memory card. SSD flash lasts through 500,000 cycles of life. 1 cycle of life equals filling a memory card and then reformatting the memory card. Taking the extra high tech road keeps Hoodman RAW CompactFlash memory cards shooting 490,000 times beyond the point where its competitors have failed.

I have had previous experience with Hoodman Compact Flash cards when I was using CF cards on a Canon XF300 High Definition Professional Camcorder at work. The data rate on the XF300 was overclocking the Lexar cards I was using even though the Lexar cards said they could handle the data rate. After doing some research I tried a Hoodman Compact Flash card and was very pleased with the end result.

When I recently purchased a Canon EOS 7D 18 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera, it wasn't really even much of a choice; I had to buy a Hoodman. The Hoodman cards are a bit more expensive than some of the competitor's models, but when you get one in your hand, you can feel the real weight and well built construction of the card. Made of steel and assembled in the US, the card isn't indestructible but is feels like it is.

With the Hoodman card, I can realize the RAW 8 fps burst on the 7D, though, I rarely use that many bursts per second. It is fast and up to now has been very reliable. I would typically only rate a product and transaction of this caliber as a four star purchase, but in my situation, the company I purchased the card from sent a 1000x speed card instead of the advertised 675x. I can't say the same would happen in your order, but it was very nice little surprise.

Pros: Well built, fast write speed, fast transfer speed
Cons: Pricey

Less is more with this review. Fantastic card. It's everything it promises to be in the description. Expensive, but well worth it. Buy it if you can (do not scimp on this aspec, particularly if you are going to use the RAW images.).
