5.0 out of 5 stars And That's What's Up!
I am honored to be the first one to review this album. I'm suprised no one has done it yet! This CD is AWESOME. I don't listen to Classical much but when I do this is one of the albums I choose over all the rest. If you are in doubt I'm here to tell ya it's worth the low price:)

1.0 out of 5 stars What a letdown
I used to listen to this on cassette in the car as a young child, and I loved it. The tape broke, but 25 years later I can still hear Clark's unique transitions from piece to piece. I finally bought the CD.

And I was heartbroken.

What I apparently did not remember as a four year old in the car was the 70's era synthetic drum beat that permeates...

I had this when my kids were small, we danced to it nearly every day. Now we dance with the grandkids, they love it too, and don't realize they are exercising. I've recommended it to all the nieces and nephews with their own little ones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Intro To the Classics, April 22, 2009
This review is from: Hooked on Classics (Audio CD)
This arrangement includes pieces from some of the greatest classical music ever written, and while the work is definitely underscored from beginning to end by the permeating techno rhythm, I believe the intent of the work was/is to introduce classical music to the ears of an audience who may have never heard it outside of cartoons. In that regard, I think the album has been a stunning success! The ADDED benefit is that the rhythm is perfect for the treadmill :) Since first hearing Hooked On Classics, I have "graduated" to more traditional and "serious" classical music, something which may never have happened had I not heard this and loved it.

The classics from many genius composers put together to inspire and to motivate. It makes me do my exercise moves in the right rhythm for a music lover at heart. Everyone should own this. After some 10 years of constant use, I finally decided to get a new one. My i-pod is so happy to get something classic and very much in use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful old musical memories brought into the modern era!, December 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hooked on Classics (Audio CD)
"Hooked on Classics" is a marvellous compilation of centuries-old musical creations which flood into the modern musical era by creative percussion and superb symphonic performance. Leader Jonathan Carney adds his distinctive touch of class as he directs the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in performing 10 medleys of a variety of composers, including Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Verdi, Ravel and more. Their names alone make up a fun trivia contest!
I first heard this CD while attending a remarkable "Pursuit of Excellence" seminar which utilized the upbeat symphonic soundtracks to get all attendees into their chairs as the coffee-break ended and the seminar was about to resume. We were all pumped as we sat to learn important content about how to live a better life. How fitting was that! Many of us sought the CD at in-store retailers who thankfully referred us to Amazon.com so we could fulfill our musical wishes.
My CD collection of Classics will grow as I add to it from Amazon's array of "Hooked on Classics" additional versions, easily found on their website. And delivered quickly, too! Even my BOSE CD-player is smiling! JR

When I was a girl, we played this cassette non-stop. It introduced me to classical music in a fun, powerful way. Now I can enjoy it along with my nieces & nephew!

Highly recommended to anyone who wants to introduce their children to classical music!

This is a great CD. The music is wonderful and serves as a great driving companion, especially on trips. Also, it is a great way to get kids to listen to what at first they think is going to be yukky music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid friendly classics, March 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hooked on Classics (Audio CD)
This has some of the most beautiful classic music ever written. But; it is done with a steady beat that most kids (teens included) would find as easy listening. When my boys were young I would play it on the car stereo and they enjoyed it so much they stopped fidgeting (or was it fighting). I'm not sure which anymore. Anyway, if you like the classics you will definitely enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hooked!, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Hooked on Classics (Audio CD)
This got me into classical music, what can I say??!! Full credit for introducing a lot of other people into classical music as well. I loved the fast beat, hey it was disco time! I slowly identified the pieces I liked, found out what they were and bought them. So today I have a small library of classical CD's and it's all because of Louis Clark who arranged and conducted the Royal Philharmonic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tons of Fun, February 17, 2011

This is hilarious. I grew up dancing to the record and I finally bought the CD for my own children. They love dancing to it and have asked for it everyday since it arrived. The driving disco beat adds energy that they can appreciate and the truncated melodies will stay in their memories so that when they are older, they will appreciate the finer and full performances.
This is not for the serious-minded. Have fun with it!
