Nice slippers but good luck with them...,

I purchased this book as there were a number of slippers in there that looked very nice and well within my capabilities.I started with the bed socks and they pretty much came out as advertised. I was able to expand the pattern, after a try or two, to cover my big feet, but all in all it worked out. The roll top tweed slippers are my favorite in the book but after 4 failed attempts to make them, I'm not sure I'm going to try #5. They just do not look at all like the picture. I then worked on the Hot Boots and they started out fine, but when I got to the tops it was WTH is this? I did some Google and found a nice lady on the net who was able to explain that yes, this does make sense. These also turned out. What I'm trying to say here is that for the want of a few sentences and some additional pictures, this book could be a lot better. Things like in the Hot Boots tops, a comment like "Switching from working rounds to working verticals..." would go a long way. Front, side and back pictures would go a long way as well. As mentioned in another review, the patterns are geared toward young ladies' feet and adjusting them to larger/man sizes can be a challenge. Again, a few sentences here and there would go a long way. On the plus side, the book includes a nice stitch guide with reasonable commentaries and pictures on the stitches in the book. And the slippers look really good in those pictures... In short, a little effort would take this from 3 stars to 4.

very limited,

Each slipper set has very limited sizes that they offer for each pattern. Most of them are sizes 9 and up. It's like a guessing game. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.

Directions are clear, it is easy to read the patterns - which are refreshing and fun to to do. Made the Foliage pattern, didn't take too long, easy to do and better than some of the more complex sock books out there, if you are an "advanced beginner" (know the basics of crochet, else that might be a better place to start) this will be a fun way to take it to the next level.
