Of corse 5 stars well, maybe 4 and 3/4 stars,

This is not the best Great White CD in the long line of great Great White CD's, but it does have the most diverse bunch of songs. Let's see, I bought this on the day it was released in 1991. I was 15 and looking for Twice Shy part 2. It wasn't. Let me explain. Here are the songs and what my opinion is on them
1. Call it Rock & Roll 9/10, This was Once Bitten part 2. The first single and a damn good song. At the time I thought it was the best song on the record. 2. The Original Queen of Sheba 9/10, A great Bluesy rocker. Mark Kendell rips on this tune. Man, If I could play like that 3. Cold Hearted Lovin' 6/10, Low point of the album. Just a rather boring song, Jack's Voice gives the tune a lot of Emotion 4. Can't Shake It 8/10, A song that goes back to pre Once Bitten styles. A true rocker that sounds great today 5. Lovin'Kind 10/10, Great White shows that they are not just a hard rock/metal blues band. This song is oozing with emotion that only Jack and the boys can deliver 6. Heartbreaker 8/10 not a Led Zeppelin cover just a real good rock/blues song 7. Congo Square 8/10 A song that might ask the Question Why did this band ever get grouped in with bands like Poison? It sounds nothing like it Must be the hair 8. South bay Cites 9/10 Intro sounds like it could be on Sesame Street, but you'll find yourself singing along to a great laid back number 9. Desert Moon 10/10 I know that this was the opening number of the show where a lot of fans saw the band for the last time. It is one tragady that will have me asking why for a long time. 10. Afterglow 10/10 For someone that can only listen to a song maybe 2 times in a row, this I can do about 5 times. As long as I can sing a long I hope this review will make you spend the $1.50 (amazon average price used) and get yourself a true classic.

First of all this is an increadible cd!! i love it. when i first started to listen to it i only listened to 3 tracks which were (call it rock'n roll, lovin kind and afterglow. if it only had those songs i would still love it.however the other day i was in the car and i decided to listen to it all the way throught, and boy was i in for a treat. there is not a song on here that would be in the region of being bad. they all have their sound and let me tell you Mark Kendall, the lead guitarist really shows off some of his talent.you cant go wrong with this album, trust me. oh and just for the record i am 14 and i have only been listening to great white about 2 months and i am already a die hard fan!!!!!!

A career highlight for GW,

Great White got a bum rap getting lumped in with some of the other hair bands of the 80's. That's not to say that there weren't some great hairbands, as there definitely were. But GW is in a different league. This is hard rock with a bluesy feel. Jack Russell has one of the best voices of any group to come out of that decade, and he shines on this record. "Afterglow" is a highlight.

Testosterone Rock with a surprising amount of diversity!!!!,

This is one rockin' album!! But, it also shows how much the band had grown. When I listen to previous albums by them, I am not impressed-Every song is very simple, and the nursery rhyme lyrics are very interchangeable. I thought they were ok, if I needed a shot of ... rock, but I would have never bought an album of theirs.A friend played me this in March of 91-just when it was released, right in the middle of the alternative phase-in/ Hairbands phase-out period, and I was surprised how diverse it was. There were the typical straight-forward rockers like Desert Moon, cant shake it,etc.,but there was also stuff like South Bay Cities,Lovin Kind, and afterglow. This is truly fine songwriting-previously they just rehashed Chuck Berry riffs, and it was boring, but songs like Lovin Kind are not derivative of anything. The piano playing, and the move towards more acoustic guitars proved they were getting better.South Bay Cities is unbelievably bright and refreshing. They were no longer masked through the overproduction period of the 80's-much cleaner recording. They finally separated themselves from the countless bands who sounded exactly like each other. They were showing the diversity that Led Zeppelin did on albums like Houses and In Through The Out Door(Great White's heroes). I was so sick of all the hair bands of the time, so I really wanted to hate this!!!I just couldnt- it rocked with as much diversity as Dirty Deeds by ac/dc It seemed a shame that these kind of bands were becoming passe' just when they were getting good!!( I actually prefer newer albums by them, and Slaughter, and Cinderella, but dont like these bands most popular older stuff)Too bad the only hit off this was Call it rocknroll, because that was one of the worst songs. The lyrics were only slightly better, but anything was an improvement..I also recommend Sail Away-it is not a heavy cd,but has some strong mid-tempo rockers like Livin in the USA, Momma dont stop, and all right.Music has gotten so much worse in the past 15 years, that I dont think this playful/ballsy kind of rock and roll will ever make a come back-the closest is Lenny Kravitz. Today's music is so much different, dont expect another album in the future to rock this well with as much diversity!!

A must have album for people who like rock mixed with R&B!,

Pure and simple, this album got less attention than ..Twice Shy, but not because it lacks anything. This is definitely a complete album. Timeless and addictive, its something you can pick up every day and enjoy or just listen for a refreshing occasional visit... Hooked will get you just that on Great White.

THIS IS A "MUST HAVE" GREAT WHITE LP!!!,
By
This review is from: Hooked (Audio CD)
This was the finest studio LP that Great White released during the last decade of the 20th Century! From start to finish, this is a collection of superb songs that will take you back to a time when good friends, good women, and parties of monumental proportions were springing up from coast to coast. And Great White was there, to put us all in the mood for some late night love, or help us move on from another broken heart.I was ready to head out for those "South Bay Cities" many a time while listening to this album. This is some of the best Rock Music that can be found anywhere. "HOOKED" is a masterpiece! If you like what you have heard from Great White, you will absolutely love the "HOOKED" LP. Buy it today!

This was a great over looked album, as most Great White albums were! "Almost" only because "Can't Get There From Here" IS the best! This is a close second though!

I love this CD. I never get tired of it. It is rock'n roll at it's best. This band is the consummate rock'n roll band and each member is expert at their job. They are consummate professionals. WARNING: You will not be able to listen to this CD sitting down.

This is one of the greatest albums by great white and it hardly got any air time on the radio.. The only song i ever heard on the radio was call it rock and roll but the whole album really jams and the song congo square is one of the greatest rock songs of all time... So anyone trying to decide about buying this album take my word for it, it will not disapoint....
