Finally, a book just for us!,
By
This review is from: Hooked for Life: Adventures of a Crochet Zealot (Paperback)
I know I'm not alone and that there are many other crochet addicts out there. But I live down a quiet country road in the middle of nowhere New Mexico, and finding other crocheters my age is rare. Mostly I find them at the senior center and they have that "hooked" glint in their eyes, and we can commune. This book is like having a buddy that just knows your soul. Mary Beth (I'm using a first name here, because she is a true soul sister) is absolutely hysterical and witty and compassionate and fascinating in her writing on the subject. I'm reading this book slowly to savor every word and it's fun to envision someone crocheting away their cares just like I do every day. Thanks for the laughs Mary Beth!

Soulmate!,

This review is from: Hooked for Life: Adventures of a Crochet Zealot (Kindle Edition)
Too me this is a true soulmate-book. I have been crocheting since I was 8 years old, my grandmothers taught me. It has been a passion ever since, but I have never come across anyone having the same passion and the same experiences. But now I have! I have been laughing out loud, feeling like being in company with a very good friend. Thank you, Mary Beth.

The book every crocheter has been waiting for,

Caution: Reading this book in public might cause you to be on the receiving end of some strange looks as you will be nodding sagely, snorting and chuckling.
Mary Beth Temple has written a book of several short pieces, each spotlighting one facet of our addiction. This book is funny. Any crocheter (and ok, knitters too) can relate to all the stories and feel vidicated knowing that they aren't the only yarnoholic.

Loved this book, fun and easy reading. Mary Beth had me laughing out loud at many of her topics. I'm glad to find out that I'm not the only one thinking that way!

Fun and entertaining read!,

I loved this book! I read a little here and there and it was great that it was broken up into short stories. I found myself laughing several times for reasons that only a crocheter would understand. Deffinetly a great little read! Perfect size to fit in your purse or backpack to take on the go... I read part of it while waiting for the Dr. one day. A few patterns are provided in the book that I do not find appealing to my taste but others will probably love!

This book offers short essays on various topics in any fiber worker's life -- learning the craft, working through fiber problems, using fiber to work through life problems -- so even NON-CROCHETERS can relate and laugh along. I found the author's podcasts after reading the book and have enjoyed those as well. I'm just waiting for another volume -- or more books like it from other authors.

I'm reading a lot of different things right now, but this is fun for light, mindless entertainment. Any crocheter can relate to Ms. Temple's fascination (and fanaticism) for all things yarny and crochet.

MBT writes like she talks. Reading the book was like listening to her podcast. With her even tempo and smooth flow it makes for a quick easy read. I really enjoyed this book.
